Are you allowing LO to sleep through the night?

Koa actually slept 5 hours straight last night, (for us that's amazing) but when he did stir I felt a little bad for not getting him up to eat/change. He normally wakes every 2-3 hrs.

Do you wake your LO in the middle of the night? If so, at what intervals?

No way. LO has been sleeping 4-5 hours a night and I let him sleep until he wakes up to eat/change. If he was having issues with weight gain, then I probably would.

No, I don't wake him unless his Dr says otherwise.
DS had a 4 hr stretch the other night and after I made sure he was breathing I rolled back over to catch some more sleep. I'm looking forward to more long sleep stretches when they come.

I let DS sleep as long as he wants to sleep, which at night is usually 4-5 hours.

I don't wake Jacqueline up to eat/change at all. The home health care nurse came by today and said her Jaundice is gone, her thrush is improving significantly and she is now up to 8lbs4oz (her birth weight was 7lbs13.4oz and she was 7lbs15oz on Monday at the dr)
The nurse said she is doing wonderful and to keep doing what we're doing. The only thing I need to get asap is vitamin D drops to give to her once a day...I didn't know this so I'll go out later tonight to pick it up.

I'm always shocked when Jacqueline stirs at night and she has slept for 4-5 hours, it's amazing!

We were every 4 hours at first because LO wasn't gaining her weight back like she should but now we stopped and she has gone up to 6 hours in a row!

He's been going 4 hours at a stretch during the night since birth, but this week he's gone 7-8 hours 3 nights. Now that he's above birth weight I'm not worried. He eats a little more frequently during the day (2.5-3 hrs vs. 3.5-4 hrs between) and his naps are a little shorter, but it's worth it to me for longer sleep during the night.

No way in the world. I'm asleep if he's sleeping, so I don't even know how long he has slept until I wake up...and when I wake up, it's because he's screaming to wake me up!

At first I did because Lo lost quite a bit of weight but now that he is back up to his birth weight and eating so well I don't.

Not a chance. I will wake her during the day to eat if she sleeps more than 3 hours, but at night I will take all the sleep I can get! She doesn't usually make it past 4 hours though, and has had no trouble gaining weight.

Bea still wakes up every 3 hours or so to eat (and normally needs a change at the same time) but if she didn't wake up I wouldn't wake her.

During the day on the other hand I do wake her to eat. She normally will start to stir every 2.5 - 3 hours on her own but if she doesn't I wake her at the 3 hour mark to give her an opportunity to eat (I don't force the issue if she isn't interested) and just to wake her up a bit - I am hoping that it helps reverse her days/nights which she still has a bit of trouble with.

I actually tried to wake DS last night to feed him because my left breast was hard as a rock and he had been sleeping at least 3.5-4 hours...no luck! I took him in the living room and pumped for comfort and then waited for him to wake up...two hours later, ugh!

Liam wakes up every 3 hrs like clockwork to eat. When he was first born we had to wake him up every 3 hrs. He learned quick! lol..

I'm am so jealous of you ladies! We have been told to wake DD up every 3 hours to eat, even in the night. She had some trouble with weight in the beginning (she had lost 9 oz. putting her at 5 lbs. 11 oz. when she was 6 days old and was 1 oz. over her birth weight of 6 lbs 4 oz. at 10 days old) but they're still keeping an eye on it. I hope I get the okay to let her sleep a little longer at our appointment next week.

I'm sorry but I had to chuckle about letting LO STTN since that is not an issue I can relate to. Granted she is a preemie with an adjusted age of under a week but has not slept for more than 2 1/2 or 3 hours since she came home.

We stopped waking her up after the doctor told us to at her 2 week appt. She is now sleeping 6-8 hours a night

. I also know you should pump every 4-5 hours but I just wait until she wakes up. So far so good.

At our last appt at 4 days old, LO was only 2oz below birth weight. So from that point on we didn't wake to feed. He never goes longer than 3 hours anyways.

Baby can sleep as long as he wants at night - he goes roughly 5 hour stretches. I wake him during the day, but not neccesairly to eat, just to let him know that hey, it's day time. He is well over 9 lbs though so there isn't a concern about his weight gain.

I have woken DS2 up to nurse a few times, but that's because I was told to do so by both my OB and his pedi while I've been getting over mastitis. I'm supposed to nurse and then pump every 2 hours to prevent inflammation/engorgement.

DS2 wakes on his own though every 2-3 hours to nurse most of the time, so there's no "STTN" yet for us. Since I EBF, I'm not expecting him to sleep more than 4 hours in one stretch for a few more months. DD and DS1 didn't "STTN" until after 4-5 months old.

At 4 1/2 weeks she sleeps anywhere between 6-8 hrs. I was never told to wake her up, so I never thought about it. I don't even wake her during the day to eat because I figure if she is hungry she will let me know. Now I'm wondering if I am doing the right thing? DH weighed her and the scale says 10lbs.

I am so jealous of you even posting 4 hours of straight sleep. I think it is fine to let them sleep unless your doctor said otherwise. More rest for you means a happier mom.
