Today is my DD #1 16th birthday. Maggie was killed in a car accident in 2005, 1 mnth before her 9th birthday, so today she would turn 16 if she were alive. I would like, in honor of her, if you would all give your babies and older children a special hug tonight and tell them how they are your favorite thing in the whole wide world. Much thanks and love. You are right, it never gets less painful, but you do learn how to live with it. And then something creeps up and hits you hard again.

Please feel free to do it! It is just a wonderful thing to do for your children. I always told them to please not mention it to others at it might hurt their siblings feelings.

We call that the "grief gator". It's right at the surface and bites you in the @ss all the time in the beginning. Later on it floats gently behind you, but every now and then it will surface out of the blue and get you again.
As Gisa said, I will give my LO (who is also named Maggie) a biiig hug when she gets up, but I'm sending hugs to you now. And a big stick to smack that gator with
