TTC with PCOS...150mg Clomid, Ovidrel, IUI...success???

Hello Everyone,

This is my first time posting here, so I apologize if I don't make sense! I'm doing my best to learn the abbreviations and stuff.

My DH and I have been TTC for 2 1/2 years now. I was on the birth control pill for most of my teenage and college years, so I always had a regular period, hormones, etc. When we started to discuss the possibility of having a baby, I decided to stop taking the pill. Consequently, my periods disappeared. We started TTC in January of 2010 for about 1 1/2 years before I decided to start seeing a PCOS specialist. They diagnosed me with PCOS in 2011 after a lot of blood work and several ultrasounds.

In March, April, May and June of 2012 I underwent 4 cycles of Clomid. Started out with 50mg, then switched to 100mg. I did not ovulate with the 50mg but ovulated in April, May, and June with 100mg. I was still left with a BFN all three times.

It was decided that I would be elevated to 150mg of Clomid, and they would subsequently monitor my cycle and trigger ovulation when at least 1 follicle reaches a diameter of 18-20mm.  The trigger shot would be Ovidrel. Once I took the Ovidrel, they recommended having an  IUI 36 hours later.

I am currently on my 3rd day of Clomid 150mg. I was wondering if anyone had any success stories or experiences they could share with using Clomid, Ovidrel, and IUI. I'm anxious about the whole process and don't really know what to expect.

Thanks so much!!

Yay! Good luck to you on this IUI! A question for you though, I have PCOS and went through clomid treatment for My second child. We were successful on the second try with just clomid. However, trying for number 3, our insurance company had my husband get a semen analysis and his numbers are terrible!

I urge you, if you haven't done so already to get your husband's numbers checked because you only have six lifetime cycles of clomid, and you don't want to waste them! Also, have you had an HSG done? Again, it would be a waste of a clomid cycle if your tubes were blocked.

Hopefully, this cycle will be it for you and you won't have to deal with any of this though! Good luck!

I also have PCOS and am doing almost the same as you. My daughter was conceived doing IUI with Metformin, 100mg Clomid, Ovidrel, Progesterone, and IUI. It took 2 cycles in 2010, 1 in July-BFN & 1 in Sept-BFP. We were shocked as we thought it would never happen. Now we're trying for another and had 1 failed IUI in June. We bumped up the Clomid, so maybe this time it will work. Good luck!
