Breastfeeding

New here with a question? moms with two under 2

Okay so I was breastfeeding LO1 and got pregnant when she was 3months didnt know at the time at around 6months she stopped out of nowhere, took the test and well BFP...so Now im 6months prego and was wondering is it hard to breastfeed when your going to have a 1yr old doing what they do u know walking etc??

  • No- it's complicated sometimes.  Just make sure to attempt nursing in a safe , childproofed, room so the older child can be free to roam and not get in any trouble.  I felt like it was easier-- less clean up (bottles, etc) to be being with #2 then not to.  Great bonding time with new baby too.  Plan to with #3.  
    Mom of 3 year old, one year old and one on the way (due late Summer 2013).

  • I have two-under-two.  My son was exactly 20 months old (and VERY active) when my daughter was born.  I will say, it has been tricky to BF but totally doable.  He chooses to display attention seeking behaviors as soon as she gets latched on!

    Here are the keys that I've found:

    Make sure LO#1 is getting TONS of attention when you aren't BFing

    Let LO#1 sit next to you on the couch and read to him/her while you're BFing LO#2

    Make sure LO#1's needs are met before you BF LO#2 (ie, he/she has a drink, has a snack, has a toy, etc.)

    It may take some fine tuning, but you can do it!
