Newbie question about temping

I have been temping the past 3 days and keeping a journal of my temps. AF is due possibly next week. How long did you guys temp before you saw a general consistency that made it obvious when your temp spiked? Also has anyone noticed a change in temps while temping with AF?

Re: Newbie question about temping

  • If AF is truly due next week, you have most likely already ovulated, which is what you are temping to determine. You should start at the beginning of a cycle to notice a shift. Check out Fertility Friend for more information, they have great tutorials.

This. You may see your temps go down just before you get you period, but that doesn't happen for everyone. I wold go ahead and keep temping though, just to get in the habit, and go full steam ahead next cycle (if necessary). Good luck!

  • I log my temps on fertilityfriend.com - they have great tutorials. Every cycle is different and a lot of factors (stress, exercise, traveling) have to come into play to get a pattern but I would say 3-6 months. They even have an app for the phone.

  • I'm kind of in the same boat. I started temping on CD30 (8 days ago) and am expecting AF hopefully in the near future, so no way to know what the temp shift will look like for me yet. I've found it helpful, in the meantime, to look at charts on FF to get an idea of what other people's patterns are and what kinds of shifts are common.
