Re: Brag Day! Brag Day!

  • I will use this brag to AW a picture from Ian's one-year photo shoot. Also, he pulled up to standing on his own today! It happened in his crib. Time to lower the crib mattress, lol.

  • DS2's hippotherapist is doing demonstrations of hippotherapy at the State Fair and asked if we were interested. I figure hey why not?!
  • First few days of school have gone off perfectly.  No complaints at all over here!  Even if he was slightly disappointed that he had a new bus driver and aide this year.  Woohoo!

  • Great scope yesterday, and DD did great with recovering from anesthesia.  DS had a great morning this morning and was very cheery, compared to his normal grumpiness (think he needs his tonsils and adenoids out).  Good morning even though we didn't get any sleep again!

  • DS told me "kiss" to say bye to me when I was dropping him off at daycare so I can go to work. Then he said "I love you!"

It is so nice to hear and makes up for my post below!

I very randomly ran into one of the partime teachers from B's summer camp. She stopped me and told me she thinks he is awesome and wonderful. She said she missed him very much. Her husband chimed in that he had heard wonderful things about B all summer.

It was so nice to hear it made me cry. I heard negative reports from the two main teachers almost every day during camp. Hearing her go on and on was amazing.

  • My first brag day post..

O has been a champ the first week of preschool. He loves the bus and has been sleeping at night again. His afternoon program teacher said he's already starting to take to the routine. His morning program is a little less structured so I'm going to have to keep an eye on how the teachers handle him, but:

I've been so freakin' proud of him. It must be tough on him and he retreats into Oranworld when he gets home we definitely have to give him time to decompress, but he's handling it all so much better than I could have imagined. All DH and I can manage to talk about is how thrilled we are that our big boy is taking so well to school or as he calls it, "school? Ride the bus?".

  • D, that's so neat. :)

We took the girls to the local amusement park last weekend. DD1 has been looking forward to that all summer and had SO much fun. She was so animated, it was awesome. Look at this face!

She is doing really great lately at doing things for other people. We were outside last night greeting DH when he got home, he told the girls he needed to take the trash cans in, and she opened the yard gate for him without being asked. DD2 often gets upset about not being able to find something, and DD1 more often than not will respond by going and finding the thing for her. My sweet girl!

  • Cam (2) is starting to climb (yay?)

Adrian (5) has made progress on learning his colors.  And while he doesn't know a lot of what a typical 5 year old should know (numbers, colors, letters, shapes, ect) he tells me the most random things that just floors me.  He told me, in detail, about snakes shedding their skin today!

Cam 6.6.10 - Autism, Global Developmental Delay, Mixed Receptive/Expressive Communication Disorder

  • A little bit late but I only heard about this last night.  So Chris's last day of EI is this Friday (he starts pre-school 9/5) and his at home ABA therapist, it seems, is really going to miss him.  He stays w/ my parents while I'm at work so they interact with him and the therapist and my mom said that she's noticed that the therapist has been much more affectionate with Chris the last couple of weeks.  Having 'book time' on his lap, "flying" him around the room like a plane and she said yesterday Chris did something good and the therapist picked him, spun him around the room and then was just holding him for a bit and said to my mom that he was really going to miss Chris.  DS tantrums a lot during the sessions so my mom was curious as to why he would say he was really going to miss him and he said "yes he tantrums but he's also the fastest learner I have.  he tantrums because he can't learn fast enough."

    :-) !!  my little guy's a smartie.

  • We had our first parent/teacher kindergarten conference today (year-round school, so they started in August), and the teacher raved about how great Zach is doing and how smart he is.  He is moving really fast in the reading curriculum, so she is going to start giving him more words to learn each week.

  • I asked my son if I could have a hug, which I have done before and never got.  He came over to me, opened his arms and gave me a big one, kiss too.  I could have died at that moment.  He had never done that when I asked.  It was the sweetest feeling, having him hug me.  I actually teared up.  Love it.

  • I'm late to this. I'm so proud of ds and all of the words he has been picking up lately. He probably has about 20-30 now that I can make out, at the end of last school year he had 5-10. He can look through his animal books and tell me the names of almost all the common animals and the noises they makes. He even has been saying "dog" very clearly and other people can understand him!

And yesterday when I went to pick him up from preschool he saw me through the window and started to smile and wave. (waving is relatively new for him) then when I came in he ran up to me and gave me a hug and a kiss, then took my hand, got his coat and said "go-go" meaning  he was ready to go. It's huge in comparison to last year when I'd have to catch him as he was wandering around.
