Jaw popping

I woke up this morning and my jaw is killing me. Every time I open my mouth my jaw pops and then cracks. I was just wondering if anyone else was having this?

I hope everyone is having an awesome thursday!

Re: Jaw popping

  • I had this in college. My dentist said that it was probably stress related. I grind my teeth in my sleep when I am stressed and he thinks that's what it was. You might want to see if a mouth guard would help.

  • Not my jaw, but pretty much everything else is popping and cracking (e.g., pelvis, knees, elbows, etc). I suppose your jaw could be a grinding/stress related thing, or maybe it's just the relaxin in your body making your joints and stuff all creaky like me. :)

  • Sounds like TMJ. I have it and it sucks! Make an appt with your dentist or general doctor. It is often times treatable.

    GL!

  • According to WTEWYE TMJ can be a symptom of pregnancy. I have had it since high school and it has just gotten worse throughout pregnancy. I am getting ready to switch to soup it hurts so damn much to chew sometimes.

  • Funny you mentioned it bc my jaw pop'd today! It's painful with every bite :s. I had this back in high school when I had my braces but that was a while ago. I didnt know pregnancy can trigger this...

  • As PP stated, sounds like TMJ.  Hopefully it's only here a short while for you, because it sucks all the time!  If it continues, definitely see your dentist for a night guard.  I clench my teeth in the night and this has helped greatly.  Fingers crossed for you that it is only here for the rest of the pregnancy (I got carpal tunnel in both wrists with DD and haven't had it since, even in this pregnancy, so there is hope!)
