My mom called yesterday and told me a funny conversation she had with a woman from the same town as me. My mom and dad live in a town about 10 minutes from here but both are really small so everyone still knows each other. My mom told her that her daughter, me, obviously, worked at the school here in my town as the cheer coach.
The woman told her that she had seen the cheerleaders helping with Vacation Bible School over the summer and had asked numerous people who the new pregnant teenager was before anyone explained that I was the sponsor.
My mom then told her I was nearly 22 years old and said the woman about had a heart attack and swore up and down I couldn't be over 18 and that she assumed originally I was 16.
Sincerely, the pregnant cheerleader...

Re: 'Baby' mama
Take it as a compliment! I have to dress up pretty conservatively for work, so despite the fact that I'm young-looking in a ponytail and jeans, I look downright matronly when I have client meetings.
I said something about being a young mom (I don't care what you think, to me 25 is still young), and one of my interns said, "Oh, wow, I thought you were like 35 or something."
Boy, you better be a fast runner....
Oh my god. I might have smacked him
Later the same evening I overhear from where I am standing, "Poor girl, I can't believe she's knocked up. Who's the father?" then I hear many laughs and some other coworkers explaining I am 26 and married for 2.5 years, own a house etc. She thought I was a student and I was max 19 years of age!
I didn't eveb think about the age comment, I was furious about the gossipy assumtions about my personal life.
Also, OB told me he thought I was 17 or 18 when he met me. Shorts, tshirt and ponytail I guess I look younger but let's not get ridiculous!
Ugh, I've had to deal with that kind of thing, too. It's pretty frustrating! In fact, I had a coworker at my job when I first got hired go around telling everybody I was only 18 years old, and that my husband only married me because he got me pregnant. She accidentally let it slip that she'd said that one night when I was working with her, and I said, "Well, not that it's your business at all, but my husband and I have been married for nearly 10 years, and I'm 31 years old." She was SO shocked and refused to believe me that I was 31 years old. She actually pestered me until I showed her my driver's license to prove my age! I was like... WHAT?!
A lady at the assisted living place my mom lives at swore I was only 19 years old, and had been giving me nasty looks for several days before the conversation somehow rolled around to what my real age is. I was pretty ticked about her making an assumption like that about me, but it was funny watching her be shocked about it.
I get nasty looks from older ladies at the store when I go looking at baby things, too. Even if my husband is with me! I have my wedding ring on, too. I'm like... why is everybody giving me mean looks?!
I don't really get it. I don't think I look nearly so young as people say I do. My husband agrees with me (which is okay, I don't mind), and said I look maybe about 25, but no younger than that. So... I really don't get why this is happening.
