Thank you note question

Backround: My MIL, DH's grandmother and DH's aunt all chipped in to get us our double stroller as a baby gift. It wasn't a wrapped "presented" gift it was more like, I showed MIL the one I wanted and she went out and bought it. So she has already given it to us from all of them. It had been made pretty clear that they will individually be giving us a small gift when the baby comes.
My question is do I write a thank you note now to each for the stroller and then again for the gift when LO arrives? I don't mind doing this but I don't want it to seem like thank you note overload. Is it considered impolite to just wait and write one thank you note for all gifts?
I'm sure I'm probably over thinking this but I was to do what is right.

    I'd probably write two notes, especially because a stroller is such a big expense.  The second one can also thank them for coming to the shower.  I don't think people get offended for being thanked too much!

    I'd write one now and another later. I don't think it's overkill since it's two different instances.

    i would write 2 thank yous as well, but i was taught to write a thank you note for pretty much any gift you receive.

    I agree with PP. Write a note now and then send one later too if they get another gift.

    I'd write notes now for the stroller.  If they give you more gifts later, then write a second note.

    I'd write two. 

    Better to write too many than people getting upset because you waited.
