Long Island Babies

Mommy and me classes

I am a first time mom with a beautiful 5 week old baby boy. I'm looking for some sort of mommy group  to spend time with my LO and venture out of the house. I am in Suffolk county, and also new to the area so I really don't know what's around here. Any ideas?

  • Try your public library.  Mine has a great chuldren's program. My kids got library cards at 3 months old.

Gymboree classes are great when they are young-we did it from 5 months till a year or so but I know a lot of people start earlier.

Also Little Gym is the same idea.

Libraries also have story time and such.

I don't know how far into suffolk you are but Once Upon a Treetop in Plainview (nassau) has great classes as well as open play when he gets older.

Stroller Strides is also a great way to meet moms (babies in stroller while you exercise)

    Hope this helps :-)

  • Try going on Meetup.com, I found a lot of nice moms and activities through the groups created there.  I also do gymboree and I love it!
  • I know about the classes that is best suited for moms. The mommy and me classes long island are very good and have good name i don't know that is available in your city or not.
  • They have programs once a month for babies and toddlers at the East Islip public library. Gymboree is another option, but they could get pricey.
