I know there's been posts about what to put in the hospital bag and bag for dadtobe, but I didn't see this. Sorry if it's a repost.
What types of clothes are you bringing for you to wear in the hospital? I realized that I don't have any robes and my sleep tops aren't conducive to nursing. Plus since I'll have visitors during those 2 days I kinda want to be cute. Any ideas of places to shop for this would be helpful too. TIA!
Re: Hospital clothes for you
The nurses had to come check my goods every few hours and there was no way I was pulling pants down.
For me I'm in the hosp people understand when visiting its not a fashion show. But that's just me :

Completely agree here. Since you're bleeding so much and have swelling and ice packs, I never wore the yoga-like pants I packed with my DD. I wore the hospital gown most of the time and did put on my own cotton nursing gown on my second day, only because it was black and if blood got on there, it wouldn't stain/show. The yoga pants, top and wrap sweater sound like a great going home from the hospital outfit though. I think that's what will go into my bag!
good luck.
I've been curious about this too. I'm a FTM so I have nooooo idea what to really expect but I do read a lot about the bleeding. I read on a message board once to buy some inexpensive night gowns that you don't mind getting ruined and to bring a couple of those if you don't want to wear the hospital gown. I get the vibe not to wear pants because it just easier for the nurse and you with a gown.
I do plan on packing a big comfy pair of sweatpants or yoga pants and a nursing tank with a zip-up hoodie for my going home outfit/outfit to wear while we're waiting to be discharged. I'm all about comfort over fashion in this situation, but whose to say I can't find a cute sweat outfit that matches LO's coming home outfit too?
Good luck!
Yup! I brought nightgowns, but only used the ones from the hospital because I bled so much I didn't want to ruin the clothes I paid for. I can't imagine trying to pull pants down with all the checking the nurses and doctor do. The only time I used the robe I brought was when I walked down to the snack room. Our hospital has a room full of free snacks and drinks for moms and their partners. It was great. All the cereal, chips, ice cream, fruit, juice, water, etc you could get. You better believe we took some of it home with us. lol. But anyway, as far as what I will pack for my clothes: a robe, and my going home outfit.

This exactly. I only wore my clothes to go home in. The hospital gown made things so much easier. Not to mention I didn't have to worry about ruining my clothes from all of the bleeding. This time around I'm not even going to bring my sneakers. I was so swollen from all the fluids I couldn't get them on my feet.
I have my eye on these:

Did not even think of this. Not that I've given thought to what I'll be packing yet, but still. Never would have crossed my mind. Thanks!
For DD I wore a hospital gown and nursing bra.
I had a vag delivery and tearing that needed stitches. Like PP said, they check you frequently. Plus I was using the ice packs for comfort. Not sure those would have fit with yoga pants on. I had to get DD to nurse by being skin to skin as well at first. And I had an IV for 3 days so having a gown that could be unbuttoned along the arms was a lot easier to deal with than having a regular shirt / nursing top on. I used the huge hospital pads at first too. Those were much more discret under a gown than yoga pants.
Main advice...don't wear anything you necessarly want to keep good.
PSA - the regular checks from the nurse and the massive bleeding happen whether you have a c/s or a vaginal birth. That caught me off-guard with my c/s. It's not quite as bad as with a vaginal birth, but it's still a crazy lot of bleeding.
I just wore a soft nursing sleep bra under my gown, but a nursing tank would be good too. That's as far as I'd take it. I was sweating like a pig in the hospital, so no way would I wear a robe on top while in bed.
Some people feel more comfortable in their own clothes. For them, I'd recommend no pants because of the yuck factor. A dress or nightgown is way easier. I personally didn't find a nursing bra necessary until my milk came in on post partum day 3. And I was home by then.
