Ugh!! Just got DS's birth certificate in mail today. Great that it came quickly but they spelled DH's first name wrong. I'd love to blame the dept of health but DH did the paperwork and DH doesn't have the neatest handwriting...Still, you would think that if there was any question about it, someone would call and verify before printing such an important document. They better not charge me for a new one!!

I can relate. I had to get my birth month corrected on DS's vital records. I'm sure it was just an input error because it was listed as 02 instead of 03. In Wisconsin we get a letter indicating that the information has been filed with Vital Records. If any information is incorrect, we make the corrections to the letter and send it back. Therefore, it is the parents' problem if they don't catch any errors before they place the birth certificate order. The letter also includes information about ordering birth certificates. It costs $20 for the first birth certificate and $3 for additional ones ordered at the same time.
I can't file for DS' until a month after delivery.
OP, I hope they don't charge you! I have to pay 20 for the first copy and 5 for any additional copies.
