So I have read that among symptoms to expect during the third trimester is shortness of breath, as the baby gets bigger and starts to crowd your lungs. My stupid question is this: isn't it too early for me to be having this problem? I'm carrying pretty low and most of his movement has been pretty low too, so I'm not sure I understand why walking in the other room has me gasping for air today. It's not my asthma, I'm not coughing... I don't get it.
Thoughts? Anyone else panting like a sweaty fat man from very little exertion?
Re: Another, probably stupid, FTM question...
I am also a FTM, and feel the same way. I think it has to do with the fact that your uterus keeps expanding (even if baby hangs out down low). As our uterus keeps expanding, it shoves organs up there and crowds our lungs. I don't know that baby specifically ever crowds your lungs, I think it is everything else that has been displaced. Just my best guess anyway.
In any case, my baby stays almost entirely below my belly button, and I feel the exact same way. I definitely pant and get all sweaty from doing pretty much anything.
I find that my shortness of breath doesn't even come from exertion. I'm having trouble right now and am only sitting at my desk. My mom (a maternal-newborn nurse) said that everything is just crowding my diaphram. I feel like I've already had this for months!
I think I'm going to start taking iron supplements. There's no iron in my prenatals, and I definitely don't think I'm getting enough from my diet.
