AW: Great ultrasound and eviction date set!

I had my almost-34 week growth scan today, and the boys are thriving! Baby A is 4lbs 9 oz, and Baby B is 5lbs 2 oz. I'm thrilled!! The ultrasound tech also pointed out what appears to be a LOT of hair on both babies' heads. I was born with a ton of dark hair, and many of the babies in my family were, too, so I'm taking this as a sign that the boys will get at least something genetic from me :) Both passed their BPPs with flying colors.

Baby B flipped to vertex (good boy!) while Baby A stayed breech (bad boy!), so for now I'm scheduled for a C section on October 1 at 38 weeks 3 days. Every time we check on them they're in different positions, and I have plenty of fluid, so there's still a chance A will flip (or even be headbutted out of the way by B). I'm trying really, really hard not to resign myself to the C section until 36 weeks, but regardless I've been studying up on the procedure and educating myself on both methods of delivery. I'm still hoping to delivery vaginally, but that just may not be an option. So, I'm making my peace with that. It sounds like many of you had great experiences with your scheduled sections, so that's comforted me.

No signs of PTL so far (I'm very, very lucky! Just some occasional mild cramping) and the doctor is thrilled with how the pregnancy is going. Here's hoping for October babies!

  • That is so wonderful. So glad they've got everything on target for you. If A happens to flip, YAY - but even if he doesn't, it sounds like everyone is healthy and looknig great, and that's what matters most.

Exactly. I know how lucky I am to have healthy babies and be this far along, especially when so many MoMs on this board have struggled with PTL or worse!

  • Sounds great! I hope A will do one more flip for you! My Baby A has been had down since 18w but my Baby B is a wiggle worm and keeps flipping between transverse and head down.

  • Congrats on the great news - those weights are awesome, esp. for 34w!

FX that Baby A flips, but you've got the right attitude about what is to come.  GL!!

  • That's great news that all is well. Hopefully Baby A flips soon.  Mine have both been head down since 20 weeks and I hope they stay that way.

It's so exciting to have a pregnancy end date in sight!!!

  • I think we are living parallel lives, my babies (girls) are about the same wieghts, bigger baby also baby B.. and my c-section has also been scheduled for October 1st but I am also hoping to deliver vaginally.

Baby A is head down (lucky for me) BUT because she is the smaller baby my OBs are concerned about the danger of a breech extraction. Did they mention anything to you about the size difference being an issue?  I hope Baby A flips for you!

Too funny! I like knowing I have a doppelganger twin mom out there :)

It sounds like the size difference between a smaller A and B is only an issue if the size discrepancy is fairly large. My OB hasn't seemed concerned so far (granted my hospital won't do breech extractions, just internal versions) and my boys are 9oz apart according to ultrasound estimates). How much smaller is your B?
