December 2012 Moms

This must be a bad sign :)

I was texting my MIL today. She's been out of town for about 3 weeks now. She said something along the lines of "I feel like I've missed out on a month of her life already."

I still have 3 months to go before she's BORN.

 Oh goodness :)

She is also a "how's my baby doing?" offender. hahah

  • Shoot at least she cares. I called to ask my MIL if she had anyone she wanted to invite to the shower. (Only because Husband insisted. I said if she wants to invite HER friends to a shower, then SHE can throw one. I didn't really want her group at the shower for my friends...but oh well. It wasn't a hill I was willing to die on.)

Anyway - when I called she said "I'm just surprised anyone's having one for you. Especially so early." I'm actually having two showers and she is invited to both since she's the Grandma (not to be gift grabby - I don't want her to feel left out). I was trying to be nice, but she basically said that was inconvenient because she was planning to paint her new condo that weekend.

When we told her we were pregnant, and then went to tell her parents - right after I told Husband's Grandparents...I mean while they were still crying and asking questions...she goes "Okay...changing the subject." and started talking about her new condo.

THEN - she made a big deal about wanting to come to the anatomy scan. I really didn't want anyone there - we have had some difficulties with the pregnancy and I was really afraid there would be something bad wrong with the baby and didn't want anyone in the room with us when we found out if that was the case. (All's well.) She pitched a fit - and again, it wasn't a battle worth fighting, so I just let her come. Then of course I had to invite my mom too.

The point is - the only reason she wanted to come was so she could take pictures (on her disposable camera) for her scrapbook. We were all planning to go out to a celebratory lunch and then shoppping (kind of her idea) afterwards. She left because she wanted to go to a lighting store. Because "it's like Disney World with all the lights."

She has made it clear every time I've spoken with her since our BFP that she is more interested in the new condo she just bought than she is in her grandchild.

I would kill to have her ask me how the baby's doing.

  • My dad always says "Is my baby still kicking?"  I want to be like, you would know if he/she wasn't and it's not your baby.  But, I just smile and say yes. ;)
