I don't think we were snarky even... we mostly gave her advice which is what she asked for right?
I don't think anyone was over the top or out of line. We just answered her question. People were even nice enough to warn her about things that would get her flamed.
Oh man...I actually just responded too. I didn't read anything overly snarky.
I just made a comment about having 2 kids already, I am assuiming she is all set on baby gear and all she really needs is clothes and that people will bring her that anyway. Shower or not.

OP: I have a 4 yr old and an 11 month old, both girls, and I had a shower for both. No one is offering to throw me a shower even though this baby has a penis instead of a vagina! Should I just throw one myself?
Everyone else: No. That's rude/tacky
Someone: Don't post this on Baby Showers; they will tear you apart.

Not surprised at all. Apparently she did not like what we had to say, and will probably do what she wants anyway.

Although the DDing is making me think somehow she's not "set" on gear and is trying to figure out a way to get people to buy it for her
I just did a quick search to see if she'd ever posted on here before since I didn't recognize her SN... apparently when someone asked a similar question on this board awhile back this was her response:
Alika0622:
I had two baby showers for my first DD (born 2008).
Then my cousin and neighbor threw me a diaper raffle/sprinkle for my second DD(born 2011).
I do not expect another baby shower unless DF family throws me one for
some reason:/ I really do not want another shower as I obviously have
EVERY thing...unless I have a boy then i am kind of screwed! but it is
easy to buy boy clothes
So... I'm not really sure why she asked this question in the first place.

Interesting. In her original post today I was under them impression that she felt the need to get EVERYTHING new for a boy even though her youngest will be less than 18 months old when he is born. I assumed (and still do) she got everything pink for her daughters. This is why my little girl will have gender neutral big ticket items with the less expensive things being pink and frilly.

This is exactly what DH and I did. Stroller and all that stuff, gender neutral so we can re-use if LO #2 is a boy. Then we obviously got a few personal items that were girly.
Recieving blankets and wash cloths and that stuff, we got ALOT of pink at the shower, but who really cares...I don't need a blue wash cloth.

I don't see what the big deal is anyway. As others have pointed out it's not like a boy baby will care (or even notice) using pink stuff. If you made the choice to buy girly stuff the first time around and are now having a boy either use the stuff (which I see as NBD really) or buy your own new stuff. If you cared you really should have bought gender neutral things to begin with.
FWIW, we had a boy and are now having a girl. Our big ticket items are mostly gender neutral, or maybe leaning towards boyish, but you'd better believe DD will be using boy stuff hand-me-downs too! Who cares if she's in a onesie with a truck on it instead of some stupid girly thing? I happen to be quite the girly girl and still wore truck shirts and played with cars and stuff because it was just something my sister and I liked in addition to "girl" stuff.
