Ideas for a texture board?

I want to make Alexander some sort of texture board or maybe book that has a lot of weird textured things he can play with. I know maybe it seems young for him, but I figure I can always give it to the other baby if he doesn't seem interested.

I am going to use sandpaper, a rug sample, some corrugated cardboard...but after that I am stuck for things to use. I would prefer them to be flat-ish, so I can attach them all to the same board. Any ideas?

Hmm, what comes to mind is bubble wrap, fishnet (or the material from an onion or orange sack?), and cotton balls. Not sure how durable the bubble wrap or the cotton would be for long-term use though.
