Getting ready! Book suggestions?

Hi all!!  I've been lurking on this board for a few months now, but haven't posted much until now.  I'm 28 weeks with twin girls (our first) and I think reality is starting to set in - getting just a little panicked!!  I love to read and tend to over-think/over-analyze everything, so I'm looking for some materials to prepare.  Specifically in the areas of breastfeeding multiples, sleep schedules and general "twins knowledge".  Do any of you experienced MoM's have suggestions for me?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Getting ready! Book suggestions?

  • I would recommend
Mothering Multiples: Breastfeeding and Caring for Twins or More (and More? Something like that)

Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child (there is also a twins version which is helpful, too, but the full version has a lot of good info. I read both and felt like both were worth my time).

For other general twins knowledge, I found the book Juggling Twins somewhat helpful (skimmed it in a bookstore :)) but beyond that I found this board and www.twinstuff.com forums (which have separate forums for Expecting Twins, the First Year, Age 2-4, etc., plus general chat and a bunch of others) more helpful than books I read--both what I picked up from lurking and from posting to ask specific questions.

  • Ditto PP who suggested Mothering Multiples and Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.  I read both the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and the twin version of the book -- I liked the Happy Child one (non-twin version) better.

Also, Happiest Baby on the Block was helpful for me for those first few months in dealing with crying babies. :)

this. But I like this message board better than twinstuff, which was too cluttered for me. I always get great advice here!

I liked Raising Twins as a good general book about guess what raising twins! It's written by a woman who is a pediatrician, has twins herself, did both BF and FF, and has a very balanced approach IMO. It's divided up into stages too so easy to get the info you need. I still read it for tips on the next age group :
