DD is outgrowing her current shoes and I need to buy her shoes for the Fall anyway, so I'm now wondering if what I normally buy is out of the norm. Typically, I buy DD a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of brown mary jane style shoes and a pair of black mary jane style shoes. These three pairs seem to get her through the winter and are versatile enough for her normal style of clothes. This year, I may buy her a pair of boots, but only if she's interested. She wanted nothing to do with boots last year.
Anyway, what do you buy for your kiddos?
Re: How many pair of shoes do your kiddos have?
That's about what her shoe wardrobe consists of plus one pair of white sandals. Oh, also, now that she's in MMO, I bought her a pair of closed toe white shoes. She's not allowed to wear open toed shoes there.
I really want to get her a cute pair of rain boots, but I can't justify the cost. It doesn't really rain that much here.
Her summer shoe collection included a pair of white open toed sandals, white closed toed sandals and 3 pair of Old Navy flip flops. Now that she's back in daycare, she really only has one pair of shoes that she can wear to school and they're wearing out fast. They're the twinkle toe light up shoe. She loves them, but I won't buy another pair like them. They're a PITA because you can't get them wet, so they can't be washed clean.
Way too many.
But most of them are hand-me-downs. Dressing each morning is like shopping. . .

Same here. My front closet looks like a shoe store. I'm not kidding. Some of the prettier shoes never get worn out because they outgrow them so fast. Except their runners, they are holier than the Pope.
DD1 has a huge collection - maybe 10 pairs for ea. season. She's really into fashion
DD2-we get away w/ the bare minimum 2-3 shoes (sneakers, dress up shoes)
Right now she's down to a pair of pink Crocs and pair of red/white polka dot sandals, because she's outgrown everything else and I don't want to buy more summer shoes she can only wear for a couple more weeks. But she has about 7 or 8 pairs of mary janes and boots to wear this fall.
I usually have 2 pairs of shoes on-hand for DD, but sometimes just one pair if I suspect she's going to rocket through a size with a growth spurt (which is where we're at right now). I'll also have a pair of winter boots for her. I don't really give a rip about matching shoes with outfits - everything she wears is pretty much play clothes anyway.
Right now my DD has four pairs of shoes: 2 pairs of runners (she tends to climb into the water table at daycare so we have to rotate the runners every other day so they can fully dry out), 1 pair of Mary Janes and 1 pair of sandals. Plus a pair of rain boots.
I will be adding a pair of boots for winter.
In her current size, she has 5 pairs of shoes, but I only bought 1 of them.
She has 2 pairs of sandal-type shoes, a pair of tennis shoes, and 2 Mary Jane-ish pairs (one brown, one white).
She has four in her current size:
brown maryjane style w/ a sneaker sole (carter's)
brown/white plaid w/ sneaker sole
silver sparkle striderite w/ pink flower
pink sneaker
I bought the brown maryjanes thinking they were dressier, but then realized they still have a white sneaker-type sole. I'll probably end up buying her another pair that is dressier, either brown or black, depending on what I think it would more appropriate with her winter wardrobe.
