I am in pain every time DD feeds from my left side. My right is just fine. Should I just feed her from the right side and pump my left until it heals? I was told by a nurse on a home visit that if it's not better by Friday to see a LC. I just can't get her to latch on that side correctly.

Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012!
Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!
I got to a point where I had blood blisters on my nipple so I would cry whenever it came time to feed, I was about ready to give up. I went to see a lactation consultant and she loaned me a hospital grade pump for a week so I could take some time to heal and still be able to give BM. The pump saved my sanity and it only took me 3-4 days to heal. Pumping, lanolin and being topless as much as possible was what helped heal me.
I agree with pp, have you tried different holds? Stay strong, it gets better :-)
PS: I love your siggy
I had the same problem and my LC said for 24 hours to pump only on the hurt side and let baby feed from the other. I actually did it for 48 hours and slathered Motherlove Nipple Cream on it. Healed up like magic and has been fine since (about 6 weeks). GL!
I second trying a different hold, using lanolin, and going topless as much as possible. Both of my nipples cracked and bled during the first two weeks from a combination of not being good at nursing and my LO having a really strong latch. If you go topless (which really helped me), remember to have something handy in case you leak.
Nursing him on the right only worked with the football hold (I cross cradle on the left). Once I figured that out it was much better. Now that LO is 6-weeks I am able to cross cradle nurse on the right as well.
I had the exact same problem! I pumped the left side for two days, and it did wonders for healing. I saw a LC, and she suggested varying nursing positions when he nurses on the left, which helped him to not continue hurting the same spots at every feeding.
Two weeks ago, I cried before every nursing session, and was about to give up. It finally got better, and I'm really glad for the sake of my baby that I toughed it out and was able to heal. I'd definitely recommend seeing a LC - it made such a difference for me. She really helped me to identify the problems with his latch, and gave me tips for how to fix it.
