I have a goal: run a 10k next summer. Totally doable, even if I haven't run regularly since college, which I just realized was a whole decade ago. Wow. I'm getting old.
I have the equipment: I found a likenew jogging stroller on Craigslist for super cheap. I have sneakers. I'm pretty sure my sports bra still fits. Maybe.
I have the weather: it is amazingly nice outside in the mornings these days. I'm talking 60 and sunny. No AM rain in sight for at least a week. No more stupid heat.
I lack motivation. I know full well that it's tough the first few days, because it's a sudden new physical activity, and I've gotten used to spending morning time fiddling on the Internet while Sophie plays on the floor next to me. That's probably why I'm regaining weight. And I know full well that once I get out there and actually walk up and down the street, I'll feel great afterwards.
So, I need you guys to kick my lazy butt so that as soon as the sleeping baby on my lap wakes up, I'll get up and exercise. Please?
Re: NBR: I need a butt kicking
Do it for Sophie! She will love the ride. LOVE IT! It will give her a chance to feel the wind in her hair and smell the trees. Jogs (i will not call them runs, maybe even brisk walks) calm my DD down, and put her in a good mood.
Plus also, I mean you will totally be a MILF after all that training
I just started yesterday! I want to run a 5k this spring
I was a NCAA rower in college and have completely fallen out of shape since (to the point where I can't even run a mile anymore -- it's pathetic). I forced myself to get off the couch last night and speed walked most of the way, but ran for a few minutes here and there, and got to 2 miles. At the end I felt great! Some fantastic music doesn't hurt either.
Running used to be a stress reliever for me, and I can't wait to get back to that place. I'm determined!!!
If you've got an iPhone, download one of the couch to 5K or 10K programs. There is a bunch to choose from. I did this prior to pregnancy and it was great. I would put on my favorite Pandora station and start the program. It starts off so easy and gradually builds to running the entire time.
You can do it! I live in the south and it's still in the upper 80's around here. Hoping that things will cool down and the mosquitos will go away over the next month so I can start running again.
