Ok so I bought L a Jumperoo after the doctor suggested it two weeks ago. He gets really overwhelmed/overstimulated in it. His eyes about pop out of his head...and then he turns crankster. Suggestions? Is there a way to show him that he can hop around or just keep doing what I am doing , which is letting him do his thing in there.
Re: Does the Jumperoo Get Better?
First of all, we don't have batteries in ours so no lights or sounds. Second, I removed some of the toys because it was just a LOT going on--stuff hanging, stuff to spin, mirrors, etc. Later on when he actually knows how to interact with these things I will put them back on. But for now, he just wants to jump not slide a bead across a plastic pole from one side to the other. He isn't skilled enough for all that.
The first time he was in it I sat with him and gently pulled it from the bottom so it would bounce him and said "jumpy, jumpy, jumpy!" with smiles so he would get the idea, maybe. He loves it. But he was really wanting to be standing all the time. I hope any of that mumbo jumbo helps!
