Prolactin High I am NEW here. :)

Hi everyone!! I am new here. I am mid 30's unable to get pregnant for the last 13 months of trying. Yesterday my gyno checked me for all std and did all bloodwork. My results came back today and the only thing is I have high prolactin levels. My thyroid is good! I had a pelvic ultra sound and a vaginal one today as well. Tomorrow I go in to have an MRI to check my pituitary gland in my brain. She says she will then send me to an endocronologist for medication to lower my prolactin. I will not get results from Pelvic/vaginal ultrasound and mri until next week. Do any of you gilrs have any advice for me? I am positive, but also a bit worried. Any advice? Thank you so much!     Welcome, I have a prolactinoma on my pit gland and did not get my period for two years. When they found it I had an MRI and was told which type of adenoma it was there are two types macro and micro. The micro is far less trouble because it is so small that there is less chance of it causing a problem long term. A macro adenoma sometimes has to be taken out because it can press on the nerves in your eyes. Once I was put on cabergoline which is the generic of Dostinex my levels went down and within two months I got AF again. There are two drugs used one is dostinex the other is bromocriptine. Bromocriptine caused me to vomit so I had to switch to Cabergoline. I have never had a problem with my prolactinoma except when they took me off the medicine. GL

    Nov/Dec 2012 LIT Treatment
    Dec 12 Humira
    Jan 2013 BFP
    Humira,LIT,Prednisone, Lovenox, IVIG, Baby Aspirin
    Miracle Born August 2013 Premature

    Thank you so much for your reply and info.  So do you have macro or micro?  Can you tell me what af means and all the abbreviations?  LOL  I am new to this.  :)

    Where are you at now?  Are you on clomid or anything?  I am wishing you so much luck.  It's going to be ok.

    I have a micro. I have done 2 rounds of IVF. The abbreviations glossary is at the bottom left of the page and I think you would be better off on Trouble TTC as all the ladies on this board are doing IVF or IUI's and have been TTC for along time. GL
