So LO is 3.5 months and he still needs lots of head/neck support when I carry him. I swear I see lots of other babies around his age and they hold up their necks really well. I know they say not to compare babies and each baby moves at their own pace but I really am starting to wonder if my LO is behind. He is a bigger baby and I am wondering if his heavy head is hard for him to support himself.
Anyone else in the same boat?
Re: Neck still needs lots of support
When our friends' daughter was 3 months old, she couldn't hold her head up at all - I mean, it was just like holding a newborn, but bigger! She WAS a larger baby with a pretty big head, so that may have been part of it. Anyway, she's now 1 1/2 and has no problems at all
It really could be the size - DD has always held her head up well, but her body is in the 60th %ile for weight and length while her head is only in the 25th. I think she kind of has an advantage just because of that.
It's hard to think about but I agree with this. Mention at your next visit and if some kind of therapy is needed, the sooner the better!
My DS held his head up really well for the first time last night during tummy time. I was starting to get worried that he wasn't going to hold his head up well while on his tummy but he just did it! Development can change a lot from day to day. It could get better very soon.
I hear that they can come out of no where and surprise you with a skill. I hope so, our next appt. is on Sept. 18th and hopefully LO is lifting his head more on his own.
