M/S back during second tri?

I had horrible m/s from weeks 7-11.  It got much better and my energy started coming back in week 11.  Here I am at almost 14w, and I'm getting sick again! Ugh!  It's not nearly as bad, and I'm able to eat much more than I was at the beginning, but I'm back to throwing up once or twice a day :(

Have any of you MoMs experienced this?  I'm afraid I'm destined to be one of those people who is ill the entire pregnancy....

Re: M/S back during second tri?

  • I'm so sorry. That sucks so bad.

So far, I've had different spells of m/s throughout most of my pregnancy. I was terribly sick in the beginning, it went away for a week or two, got terribly sick of a week or two, had time off again, started again, etc. I'm not sure if it's the surge of hormones or a uterus growth spurt that auses it to reoccur, but it does seem to come back for at least a few days a time every few weeks.

My only suggestions are to eat well when you can eat and take it easy on your stomach when you're queasy.  Also, never run out of either phinergrin or Zofran and take it as soon as you feel sick.

This is my siggy. Love it.

  • Mine didn't come back in the 2nd trimester but it came back with a vengeance in my 3rd. From what my OB told me its bound to happen a lot more with multiples due to the extra hormones and pressure on your organs. GL I know its rough. Try your best to stay hydrated and also try protein bars. They might not be the best tasting thing but nibbling on them saved me through the first few months. The snickers ones are the best tasting ones.

  • I had m/s during my first tri and then had a good week, then the m/s came back stronger than it was during the first tri and with heart burn.

I've been told that it's completely normal, but doesn't make things any easier. Good luck!

  • Ugh, I'm sorry. I still have it, although it has been better since 22 weeks or so. It does kind of go up and down, so I just try to enjoy the down phases.

  • Yup. I didn't stop throwing up until 16 weeks and would gag at the thought of food until my third tri. I wasn't "normal" until 31 weeks. :

  • I had the more extreme HG with DD and was sick up until hours before delivery.Ive had it this time as well and ended up being hospitalized, getting a PICC line, and Zofran pump. Just this Monday I was hospitalized again for fluids and IV Zofran after a few really bad days of it.

Unfortunately, for some women it can go away to return later. Just be sure to try to stay as hydrated as possible, get fluids if needed, and keep your OB informed so they can treat you appropriately. Hopefully it goes away and stays away for you.
