Lost the baby weight yet?

I gained about 30 lbs and the first 20lbs came off within the first month.  I have pretty much been the same every since.  I tried not to worry about it too much during my ML because I just wanted to focus on getting used to my sweet girl and spending time with her.

 Now I go back to work in a week and nothing nothing absolutely nothing fits!  I have to buy a whole new wardrobe just to be able to go back to work.  I might give myself one more month to get used to working again and fall into a routine but then I need to get to steppin.

 Just wondering if anyone else was in the same boat as me.  I guess I expected it all to come off pretty quickly since I am EBF but that definitely wasn't the case!

  • I gained 40 lbs during pregnancy and lost only about 10-12 lbs without thinking about it.  Then gained some back... but I blame that on moving across 3 states during a terrible heat wave when DD was only 4 weeks old.  I joined weight watchers becasue it is a plan that I have used in the past with good results and it takes into account higher caloric needs of breastfeeding moms (both EBF and with formula supplements).  I am now finally down 20 lbs but still have a ways to go.. and unfortunatly am stuck in mostly mat pants yet.... Hang in there though, you are definitly not alone.

  • I gained 35 lbs and lost 20 ish. Nothing fits me and I am not happy about it.I feel like even if I am back to my PP weight that nothing will fit b/c my bones moved. My hips and rib cage are wider...

    On the other hand, I EBF and don't want to mess up my supply by dieting - and I am constantly hungry.

  • I thought about weight watchers...have you noticed a dip in your supply even with the additional points you get?  I just got my cycle and haven't started work yet so I think I might run into supply issues.  I was going to wait a bit to see if that was the case before I tried to start any program.  It sounds like it's working great for you!  GL!!

  • Oh and my maternity clothes look horrible on me!  I carry all my weight in my belly and needless to say it's not so cute now that there is no baby in there LOL

  • I lost all of my baby weight, but my hips never shrank back... I can fit into most of my pants and skirts, but they're pretty tight :-/ I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to wear em again, since the hips widening probably isn't related to weight. Sad times.

  • I have had supply issues from day one, have to supplement formula for about half of each feeling (2 -3 oz breastmilk and up to 2 oz formula). Since starting weight watchers I am still producing enough breast milk to only need to supplement 2 oz of formula with each feeding, my supply is increasing with her increased need but not enough to get rid of the supplement. I am not sure if it would make a difference with EBF but i definitly feel satisfied with the food I can eat and if I am ever hungry the plan allows for basicly unlimited fruit and veggie intake (within reason of coarse).

  • Not me.  I lost the first 20-25 pounds pretty easily, but I still have another 10-15 to go.  I go back in a couple of weeks, and nothing (well, pants at least) fits.  Thankfully, I can wear jeans most days, so I just bought a couple new pairs to wear for now.  I'm hoping I'll lose the rest of the weight and be able to fit into my old clothes...that said, like a bunch of other PPs, I'm EBF, so I don't want to diet as I don't want my supply to tank.  We'll see what happens...

  • My hips were weirdly narrow, so Im loving the extra curve now. But I gained 35 and have lost 25. I think ive gained like 5 pounds back though. Boo!

  • I gained 30 lbs also in my pregnancy. So far I have lost 24 lbs. I don't mind my scale number, its my little belly that I'm still trying to get rid of! Also my boobs went up 2 cup sizes so that's extra weight as well. I used to wear junior size jeans but now my hips have widen so I find that women's size clothing fits me a lot better!

  • I've been back to my prepregnancy weight for a few weeks no, but I will admit I did nothing to get there, except EBF I guess. I gained 32lbs and it was all gone at 8 weeks.

    But even still, none of my prepregnancy clothes fit. My hips are wider. I bought a pir of jeans 2 sizes bigger than my previous pants. My boobs are enormous. I went from a D cup to a 32 H. H!!!! So either my old shirts don't fit or they aren't really BF friendly. Not to mention how difficult a 32H is to find!

    DH was on vacation this past week so he took me out shopping for new pants and new bras and panties. Honestly, even though I got only 1 pair of jeans and 1 really pretty nursing bra, I feel so much better about myself. I also got a haircut last week and painted my nails. I feel like I'm getting around to a new normal.

  • Yes, I am 24lbs lighter than pre pregnancy weight. Bfing and eating healthy have done wonders. I want to start hitting the gym again so I can loose another 16lbs.
  • I gained 36 lbs. I have 4 more to loose.  All my weight is in my belly.  It looks so gross and wiggly.  I just joined the gym last week and 1st appt with the personal trainer is tomorrow!   I am EBF hoping the work outs don't kill my supply!  Having kids 18 months apart did a number on my abs!

  • Yeah - I'm right there with you.  I gained 45 lbs during pregnancy and lost about 20 of them and now I'm gaining some back despite starting to exercise... boo.  I also EBF and am worried about supply so I've been eating whenever hungry which apparently is not working for me.  too bad.

    Sadly, I have an interview that I have to go to and so I need a brand new suit...bleh. I went out shopping today and I've gone up 4 sizes!  Just depressing.  My bff just had her LO 1 year ago and she said that her hips are still shrinking so maybe there is hope that the bones will shift back to a more pre-pregnancy position?  or maybe that is just dreaming...

    Anyway - you are definitely not alone... consignment stores here I come!

  • I gained 50 and lost 25 so far.  I ended up buying a few pieces before I can hopefully fit back in myold clothes again. 
  • I gained 36 and have lost 21 just through breastfeeding. Now I've just rejoined Weight Watchers to lose the remaining 15. I'm also EBF and haven't noticed any dips in my supply. WW has a special plan just for nursing moms and takes all the extra calories and nutrients into consideration.

    Just wanted to say though, I'm happy to take my time and do this slowly. Trying to get back to pre-pregnancy weight by the end of American maternity leave standards is just way to fast IMO. I went back to work in the UK when DD was 8mo and that was my goal. I didn't do a think during the first 8 weeks. Then I took it slowly and walked everywhere and did a low impact aerobics class with a friend one day a week. By eight months, I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight and kept it off until I got pregnant this time around. I keep telling myself to "Remember the tortoise. Slowly and surely!" :)

  • I gained 40 and have lost all but 5lbs of it so far. My daugter is 2 months old now. I lost the first 25 within the first 2 weeks due to EBF, then I had to stop because my supply stopped. (Yes, I tried everything to up my supply and got nothing) So, since then I've been at a standstill on weight. I got on myfitnesspal.com and its pretty much the same system that Weight Watchers Online has, only it's free! :) That has helped me get down to my last 5lbs....As of now, Im still wearing my maternity clothes. I even had a lady ask me if I had my baby yet! All my weight is just in my belly region so I see her point, but STILL!!! Way to blow my self esteem lady!
  • I am so glad we are having this convo and keepin' it real, ladies!  A few weeks ago, I feel like someone else posted a similar thread and everyone was all, "Oh, I totally lost it, plus another 15 pounds, and my boobs have never looked better" which pretty much made me want to kick someone.  

    I gained 43 lbs while preggo and I have lost all but 5 now.  I have had a really hard recovery from the birth so I haven't been able to exercise until this week (I have been using our treadmill to dry clothes, sigh).  But even though I am only 5 lbs heavier than I was, nothing fits.  I have been this weight before (it's about 5 lbs over my normal range) and able to wear these clothes-- I feel like the entire midsection of my body is super doughy and gross.  It's super frustrating.

  • I gained 35 lbs while pregnant and lost 20 of it with a week or two. I haven't really budged since then. My stomach is still kinda flabby, but I can barely wear pre-pregnancy shirts because my boobs are so giant. They were big before I got pregnant, but now they are just obscene. All my shirts are too short because they have to stretch over my mountainous boobs! I hate them! I'm hoping they shrink a bunch after my milk dries up.

  • Yup, and feeling pretty good about it... by the end of my pregnancy I was 30 lbs up, and since DD was born, I've lost 50. Some of that, though, was because I lost 20 lbs from morning sickness in the 1st trimester... Now I'm pretty much at the same weight as I was heading into 2nd trimester.

  • I gained 68lb with ava alot of water weight and have lost 54lbs of that shes 3mo todaym ive just been hitting the gym and dieting. Diet is 80 of iti mostly discovered i really needed to tone up since i was restricted on weights during my pregnancy.
