My sil has offered to get us whatever carrier/sling I want for a shower present however the more I read the more I get confused so I figured I would ash the experts you ladies...my biggest concern is my height I'm 5'0 and want something that won't be to large for me and maybe something I caN wear in different positions....what would you recommend or not recommend?

I really liked my mei tai right away, and it was great for a long time. It's more adjustable than a structured carrier - I like my Ergo, but I'm 5"7". You might find it too large.

Look at BabyHawk and FreeHand for brands.

I'm 5'3 and fairly petite.

I would suggest a linen ring sling because it's so versatile. I actually did not like my mei tai. If you're wanting a soft structured carrier, try out the Becos and the Boba. The Ergo was too bulky for me.

I have a Moby, but I have been looking into getting an Ergo or Beco. I'm leaning towards the Beco, because you can do forward facing with it and I think my DS would really enjoy that. You could always get a Moby later, they are a bit more affordable than a Beco or Ergo. Also check Craigslist for them... I see them on mine all the time!

My siggy link has info on the pros and cons of different types. I think you may find it difficult to get a buckle carrier that fits well (without getting into the brands you can customize). I'd go with a mei tai or a woven wrap if you want the ability to do different carries.
