Numb Feeling

I'm a little more than 3 week PP and my lower belly (bellow my belly button) is numb.  It feels like pins and needles constantly and it hurts to wear cloths--I am still wearing my huge yoga pants I wore during my last trimester.  Is this normal?  How long will it last?

Re: Numb Feeling

  • well some nerves will regenerate and that is why you are feeling the pins and needles.  It might feel itchy etc.  you may never have it back to normal completely.  I am numb around my incision at 18 months post partum, but slowly it starts to get better and better.

  • I'm a bit over 5 months out and I'm still completely numb on about a 3 inch stretch above my incision.

  • Mine has been 2 years almost and I still can't feel when anyone touches that area. My doctor said it will never come back.

  • Yeah & I've been told that w/ each c/s you get less & less feeling in that area.
  • My DD is almost a year old and I still have some spots that are semi numb. Kind of like what it feels like when novicaine is wearing off.

  • My doctor said if my feeling doesn't come back in a few months then it most likely wont come back.

  • Right after delivery I remember a good 2 inches around my entire scar being numb and, as you said, prickly. That feeling came back throughout the weeks but I never gained back sensation where my scar is. Both of these things are completely normal.

  • Thanks everyone.  I was just making sure the pain of the numbness would go away!  Glad to know it will.

It should get better over time. If still numb/strange feeling at 1 year mark, it is not likely to go away. I am 15 months pp and still have numbness.

Same here. Was just noticing today that it really is numb all in the incision area.
