New base/OB later in pregnancy? Also info on Hanscom AFB?

Hi, long story short, I'm moving in with my MIL while my husband will be away. I'm due with our first in January, but moving in with her in November. I've seen a few people a while ago who had to PCS after 30 weeks and they had issues with finding a new OB, any advice on how to do this without losing my mind? I'll be 32 weeks when we move to Massachusetts.

Also, we'll be near Hanscom AFB so that would be where I'd go for medical with the newborn? Anyone in that area have an OB and Ped that they like?

Baby has some issues so we'll have to see a specialist after the birth, but I assume I'll work that out with the OB I find. Anyone know what kind of clinic services they have at Hanscom? Any advice on either moving or Massachusetts would be so helpful! TIA!

    I had no issues switching late in my pregnancy. Once I got to the base I called TRICARE, got my info changed & they gave me the phone number to my new doctor. I had an appointment within a week.

    i'm stationed at hanscom currently.  The base doesn't offer much for services.  I think that you will be able to do newborn check ups at the clinic with your PCP but as for OB and delivery they give you a referral for places in the area.  Depending on where you are choosing to live (there are wayyy too many options) you will probably want to pick an OB near by.  I picked an OB that I have been to before, alos because she is right off base in lexington.  The OB i chose delivers at Beth Isreal in Boston, so that is something else for you to considered based on where you are going to live and how far you want to drive for delivery.  Any questions, let me know!  Good luck to you!

    I grew up in the area and before I married my husband and moved to Ft Bragg I worked at the schools on Hanscom. You could go to someone in Lexington which is close and has good clinics. Also Emerson Hospital isn't far my old OB was there and I loved it! You should be able to get in there as well. =) I wish you luck and I miss the area terribly I hope you like it there!

    When you move to MA you should have the option of going with Tricare (which will likely mean being at Hanscom) or you can switch to US Family Health Plan at no cost and see a civilian. I went with USFHP. The coverage is basically the same but means not having to go on base. I've never dealt with Hanscom but I was unimpressed with on base medical in California. Seeing civilians made it a lot easier to get the birth experience I wanted. I'm using a midwife at Jordan Hospital.
