Baby Showers

Multiple showers, registry question

I am aware that most people don't purchase shower gift until pretty close to the shower, I'm definitly one of them.  I don't really want to watch my registry and have the suprise ruined but I was thinking I would check in between my showers to make adjustments, and be sure that I have a variety of prices included.  Would this be a big no no?  I'm thinking with multiple showers all of the cheap stuff, middle range stuff would get cleared out after a shower or two.  I guess I could always just let my guest decided if things get picked off, but I'm generally someone who likes to shop from the registry, as a guest, and appreciates a vareity so I can choose something I am comfortable with.

Re: Multiple showers, registry question

  • I am also big on having multiple price points available so that people can spend comfortably.  I was also worried about this so I took my mom's advice and just added multiple quantities to the small stuff you know you will need like baby shampoo, pacifiers, receiving blankets etc.  Anything I knew we would use a ton of under $10 I added to the quantity.  For the middle items I just added a lot of little toy type things, books and plain onesies in all different sizes.

In the end I wouldn't over think it because people will purchase what they want and/or can comfortably afford.

  • I don't think there is any problem adding items in between the showers. If you are concerned about ruining the surprise and seeing what was purchased, could you ask your husband/ partner to add items and swear him to secrecy?

This is a good idea.  Personally, I wouldn't mind having the surprise ruined and would check to make sure all price points still have options.   If you are concerned about ruining the surprise, have someone else check and tell you whether or not you need to add more small things.

  • I would update inbetween the showers.  As a guest I would look at the registry and if I see items that I think the MTB can use more of then listed I'll purchase more.  She can always take them back.  You might think of other things to add or other people might make suggestions to you that you can add.
  • I would check between the showers as well.  Also I had a lot of small items on my registry but it seemed liked more people wanted to get the items priced $20 - $40 so I had to add more of those.  The reason for that is a lot of my family and friends will go together on presents so they can get the bigger items, but I didn't really think of that while registering so I put lots of cheap items on the list and like I said I was surprised it was the mid-priced items that were going fast.
