Amelia started solids on her 6mth b-day. We have had no luck. She eats 11/2hour after she nurses with us at the dinner table. She spits out pur?es, refuses to put larger food in her mouth, screams when food does end up her mouth and always demands to breastfeed afterwards as if to get the taste out of her mouth. She can sit on her own, appears interested in what we are eating, has lost the tounge thrust, etc. in short she exhibits all the signs of readiness. I am reading about all these babies that love solids and am not sure how to get baby there. Thoughts? What would you do? Anyone experiencing something similar?

Try a different time. Do it a few minutes after nursing.
It takes time. We started one feeding every other day or so back on the 4th of July. We have slowly worked up to one a day. She pretty much did not like it at first then tolerated it now she really enjoys it. She has a veggie and a fruit once a day.
Don't give up, keep trying.
I'm right there with you! My DD just turns her head away from you if you try feeding her. If you get some food in her mouth, she makes a face as if you have just fed her poison.
I've tried right after nursing her, an hour after nursing her, after a nap, before a nap, in the morning, at dinner, etc. but we haven't gotten anywhere, so I'm right there with you.
I kind of get the sense that she doesn't like the idea of you putting something in her mouth. I think she wants control of it, but she doesn't have the dexterity to feed herself yet, so I'll just wait a few more weeks and see what happens.
We'll keep trying. I figure she has to eat at some point. My DS scarfed down anything you gave him from the first bite, so this is all new to me.
