Breastmilk Storage

My LO is starting to drink less out of his bottles at the babysitter. So, I'm finally starting my stash and I have freezer storage bags, but I read online that glass or hard plastic is the safest to freeze the breastmilk in. I don't want my bags to go to waste, so I would like to use them but are they practical? I'd love to know what you ladies are storing your breast milk in. TIA!

Re: Breastmilk Storage

  • I'm freezing in Lansinoh freezer bags and haven't had any problems.  I've been storing BM for about 3 months now and have only had one leak to date at the babysitter's.  I can't imagine being able to store alot in my freezer if I had to store in glass or plastic.  With the freezer bags, I can lay them flat and stack them up.

  • After pumping I pour my milk into an ice cube tray and let it freeze. Once frozen, I then put them in a zip lock back. Each ice cube is about 1 ounce (just a teensie bit under), so it allows us to easily track how much he is eating. To get it ready for the bottles, you can either put the ice cubes directly in the night before, or we sometimes will put the ice cubes in a zip lock back and run it under warm water. This way we can easily pour it in his bottle and he eats right away.

  • I have NUK freezer bags. Thanks for the feedback ladies, I'll just use my storage bags.
