First: So little baby was being a worm, and wouldnt let us hear his/her heartbeat(we finally did) But we kept hearing the baby move and kick. I am 16 weeks and 4 days, if my baby is that active, will I be able to feel it soon? Its my first baby, and I feel like i feel something, but then I wonder if its just my brain wanting me to feel it! So Im trying to patiently wait. lol. So I suppose I might as well ask!
Second- Between 12 wks-16 wks, I gained no weight, and the Dr. was a little concerned, how much did you all gain just in those 4 weeks?
Re: 16 week check-up!
You will definitely feel it soon. My baby's been super active and I started feeling little flutters at the end of 16 weeks. I'm at 18 weeks now and the kicks are pretty obvious now! At first I felt it way down low by my pubic bone because that's where the baby was hanging out for a while. Now it seems to have moved up a bit and I feel kicks about halfway to my bellybutton.
I haven't gained much weight since the beginning of my pregnancy. I think in the 18 weeks, I've gained a total of maybe 7 or 8 pounds (and I'm guessing generously because I'm not sure exactly what I weighed before). If the baby is sounding healthy I wouldn't worry too much about how much you've gained. Overeating and gaining too much can cause a lot of problems, like gestational diabetes, and even problems for the baby after birth like diabetes and obesity. So don't try to stuff in a lot of food trying to gain weight desperately... if you are eating healthy and regularly, you don't have anything to worry about.
I didn't feel my little man move until 23 weeks. But I know tons of other people who felt it much earlier than I did (I have an anterior placenta) - so it's possibly you'll start to feel him within the next couple weeks or so. But also keep in mind that it's completely normal if you don't feel anything until 20 weeks or so.
As for your second question - I am 25 weeks and have gained 6 pounds. I find it odd that your doctor would be worried about you not gaining weight. I lost 5 pounds in the 1st tri and the doctor said it was completely normal.
between weeks 12-16 I think I gained normally. However, when I went back for my 20 week check-up, my doctor informed me that not only had I lost any weight I'd gained this pregnancy so far, but that I actually weighed a pound less than I did at my first appointment with them.
My NP just asked about my appetite, and I told that my m/s had been pretty bad the last month for whatever reason and even though it was getting better, there are some days where I eat a lot, and some where I eat one meal and a couple of snacks.
I just don't feel like eating some days, but I do anyway because of baby, and because I know my body and when I haven't eaten in 7 hours, it just decides to give up on asking for food -.-
But she didn't seem worried, she said just to make sure I was eating or at least make a smoothie or something if I didn't feel like having a meal.
I felt my LO flutter at 14 weeks, and on and off I felt her do that. At about 17-18 weeks I felt nudges, at 19 I got full kicks. At my 20 week check-up, my NP listened to her and her heartbeat, and looked at me and straight on told me, wow you've got a wiggly one. But apparently that's good. I feel her allll the time now. She's got her own little thing going on in there. So if you're LO is wiggly, you'll probably feel nudges at least in a couple weeks and then, there will be times when you'll wonder what the heck they're doing in there. My LO likes to turn herself over, it's a weird feeling
I had my 16 week today too! So fun! I've been feeling a little movement for a while but this is also my second. Between 12-16 weeks this time I gained about 6 pounds, with DS I had only gained about 2. Everyone is different! If the doc isn't worried, I wouldn't be!
These are going to be the LONGEST 4 weeks ever until the a/s at my next appointment! GAH!
June 2010-April 2012: Lots of trying, chlomid, gonal-f, with triggers, without, IUI's and tons of BFNs
May2012: Letrozole + IUI = BFP!!!! Due 2/10/13
I haven't even kept track of my weight, but most of it is water-weight anyways... This is my first and I'm in my 16th week, I am so excited to feel movements! I am really curious what they feel like...
