How have your pets reacted to LO and does your LO react to your pets?
Our two rabbits show a little bit of interest in Sophia, our dog LOVES "his" baby. He constantly wants to give her kisses (we only let him lick her feet since she doesn't yet get them in her mouth). He also barks at anyone who moves to quickly towards her ("bark! bark! Don't you hurt that baby or you will have to deal with me! You have been warned.") Sophia is interested in these fuzzy family members and watches the animals move around.
Re: pets and babies, babies and pets
We have 3 cats and it's a giant happy family, though our central air is broken so we've been spending a lot of time in our bedroom where the cats are not allowed. Can't wait until it's cooler!!
Penny, our calico, has always been shy, so she's interested but she stays back. Oliver, our "alpha male" has claimed LO as his. He smells her and licks her feet just like he does to me (I am "his" also, ha) He is large and has always been like a puppy, so he'll sit at her feet or mine if I'm holding her. He growls if someone rings our bell! Sydney, our orange tabby female (this is rare, she has a chromosome problem and has the feline equiv to trisonomy 21) loves to cuddle with the 3 of us. LO is especially fond of her because she looks like her wubbanub, but also I think because she's bright orange/yellow and those are her favorite colors. Oliver is a tuxedo and I think she has a hard time seeing him against our floors, LOL
They all rub into her hands/feet at times to say hi, and she gets the funniest look on her face. Our pets were our babies before LO (they still are, though I feel bad I don't have as much time for them), so I'm really relieved we're all functioning happily together!
The first few times LO cried, Oliver and Sydney, who were rescues from houses with kids, came running to see if she was okay, but poor Penny (rescue from hoarder situation) was MIA for a few hours!

I love my cats and they are so docile and getting older now, but I would still be terrified if I were this babies mom! Still, it's cute
They are actually all pretty interested in her but to varying degrees. The cats come see her if she is laying on the bed or couch (their territory) but otherwise don't care. Two of the dogs comes see her when she is laying on the floor for tummy time, or in her exersaucer but not really interested.
One dog though is in LOVE with her. He is a border collie so he has given himself the job of being her body guard. Sleeping under her crib, licking her every chance he gets, whining when she cries, and he has to be RIGHT THERE if anybody other than us is holding her to make sure it's all ok.
We live with my parents who have chickens and a cat - DD seems to somewhat sort of be interested in the cat sometimes, but she does observe the chickens with a little more interest. Overall, though, I wouldn't say that she watches any of the animals all that much yet.
The chickens obviously don't care about DD, and neither does my parents' cat. They did babysit a kitten for 2 weeks, and he seemed to be kind of interested in the baby - he'd come up and look at her sometimes, or touch her with his nose and purr.
4/25/12 ~ Our angel, Persephone James, is here!
Corbin finds the dog to be absolutely hilarious. He had a long big belly laughing fit earlier this evening because the dog was barking and jumping around trying to get my husband to play with him. He has always giggled at the dog but tonight he was just cracking up completely...it was adorable.
