DD's bday party (? about makeup & hair)

DD's 4th bday isn't until Jan, but she's been asking for a princess party which gave me an idea. My best friend (and also DD's godmother) is a hairdresser. I was going to invite a few of DD's friends over for a princess type tea party and ask my friend to style the girls hair and put on a little makeup.

Do you think the makeup/hair styling would bother other parents because the kids are so young?

thanks

  • It wouldn't bother me, but I'm sure there are some people it would bother.

This. We have a place the mall that does little girl parties with hair and makeup and it's always packed. I was thinking about doing DDs party there.

  • My sister did this at my neice's 3rd birthday.  The girls got their hair done and nail polish.  I thought it was fun, no one had a problem with it, but we were all family.

  • It wouldn't bother me. I was even thinking of having DD's 3rd b-day at Sweet & Sassy. Instead we had fairy party and the girls had their nails painted w/ glitter polish and fairy glitter dust on their cheeks. The other parents were fine w/ this.

  • I have no problem with make up for dress up - my ds even loves it. Some parents might I would make it clear on the invite if you are invite people you don't know that well.

This.  I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I know my SIL (who can be strange) flipped out at my niece's dance recital last year, because they put make up on her without asking.  So definitely put it on the invite incase you get any moms like that.. .

I think a little nail polish and gentle hair styling would be fun as long it doesn't go the route of toddlers & tiara's.  As a parent, I would want to know about it though.  Also maybe check and see if any of the little girls have sensitive skin as some makeup products are really harsh.

  • hair wouldn't bother me if it was just fun and loose - no hair spray or anything like that. foundation, lipstick, mascara would bother me a lot. glitter lip gloss or glitter for cheeks would be okay with me. but i would be sure to ask the parents. it would also be important to me to emphasize it being fun for dress up purposes - not to try and look more beautiful or anything like that.

  • OP. Micheal's usually has little body art kits that are girly and glittery, It's the same idea as temporary tattoos, its just in the form of stencils and loose glitter. The girls would probably love that.
