So my I have my test in about 4 weeks. The doctor told me I did not need to fast, and could eat that an hour before my appt that morning, nothing too sweet.
With my first I remember fasting.
Were you told to fast, yes or no?

The purpose of the test is to see how your body is processing sugar. If you fast, or eat differently than your norm right before the test, the results could be wrong. Should you choose the hours before your test to help your friend pick out her wedding cake? No. Should you have ice cream for breakfast? No. But if you put sugar in your coffee, do it. Eat how you normally eat.

No fasting for the test with DD. Even for the three-hour test, I think friends who did it were told not to fast, but were given a specfic diet to follow for the 24 hours before.

I have my appt next week. I was told to eat a small meal like toast or somthing2 hours prior. No rice. They told me the same thing when I did the test around 13 weeks. Had to take one earlier due to family history

My doc told me they never make pregant women fast for the glucose test. Just as long as you don't eat too much sugar right before that would cause a crazy rize in blood sugar.
Mine said not to fast. The nurse receptionist told me to eat something like yogurt, fruit, cottage cheese, etc. I didn't think I should intake sugar beforehand (really don't want to fail this test!) so I will probably eat eggs. Luckily my test is at 9am.

My Dr. told me to fast. When I was pregnant with DS, I flunked the first test, bu passed the 3 hour. She basically said that if I pass the 1 hour after fasting I will not need a 3 hr.
Nope, no fasting with the one hour...only the 3 hour at our office. I'd recommend eating something high in protein for breakfast so you don't feel like absolute *** afteward.

With my son I was told not to fast. This time I was told nothing after midnight the day of my test. I think it really depends on the doctor, if they told you that you can eat then go ahead and eat!
My doc said I could eat and drink normally before the test. Just can't have anything for the one hour after you finish the sugar drink until they draw blood

My doctor asks for a 2 hour fast for the one hour.
12 hour fast for the 3 hour. They ask for the long fast because they take a fasting blood draw before you drink.
There is no fasting blood draw for the 1 hour, just drink and get blood taken 1 hour later.
