Re: Pregnant (& TTC) after a Preemie Check in 8/23/12

  • imagelucy460:
I'm flying this weekend and I'm worried that it is going to trigger swelling. That may be irrational, but i'm worried anyway, since my swelling was so horrendous with my last pregnancy.....Otherwise, no news here, which is fine with me! I've been worried about a lot of the mamas on here; the high-risk board has been very active, without much good news. :(

Good luck with your flights. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

  • No news here; and that's good news if you ask me. Thinking of all the ladies in tough situations right now.

I know, I've been lurking on the high risk board. Praying for all the ladies out there.

    Good luck with your flights.

  • I'm 28 weeks!  Made it to 3rd tri!  I'm so grateful.  Still bleeding off and on, which is super stressful, but at least I'm in the right place.

The high risk board was horribly active last week and this week with a lot of preterm births, a horrible diagnosis of a lethal condition in baby, an emergency cerclage, and people getting put in the hospital for other various reasons.  It's been heartbreaking.  I feel like we're all falling apart.  It's hard to see as I sit here feeling helpless to help my Bump friends.  I think that's what's been hardest about this week.

  • Hi, everyone... I've been "laying low" lately because I am still terrified of a miscarriage (I haven't even gotten to the point of being afraid of pre-e again, although I know my BP is already high!). I hadn't even seen my OB because I was so scared of finding out the baby wasn't going to make it... if it's going to be a miscarriage, I'd rather find out the old-fashioned way rather than on an ultrasound table where my baby would have to witness me breaking down. (I know this is a totally different fear than most here, but before Jack, I had six miscarriages, so it's hard to get hopeful until I make it to the second trimester.)

BUT, now I'm past 11 weeks, so I figured it was time to find out for sure what's going on. I've had no signs of miscarriage, but also do NOT feel remotely pregnant, AT ALL. Tomorrow afternoon (Monday) at 3pm I'm going to finally see the OB and they're going to do an ultrasound.

I'm scared to death, but I need to know what's going on... if I have a viable baby in me, I'll want to do the 12-week screening, so I really need to know ASAP.

Whew! I'll post an update after the appointment, either way... pulling for all the rest of you to have healthy full-term (or as close to it as humanly possible) pregnancies!!

Julia ~ six miscarriages ~ our sweet miracle baby, Jack, due 5/3/12, was born at 29w1d on February 17, 2012, weighing 2 pounds 8 ounces Lilypie Premature Baby tickers BabyFetus Ticker
  • Oh boy!!! The ultrasound this afternoon went great!!! Baby was measuring perfectly (a day or two ahead), swimming around and waving, and heart rate 170bpm!!!! I am stunned... and excited... and terrified out of my MIND, because my BP is already way up. (First time she checked, it was 154/102... then she checked manually and it was 140/90... it's way too early for it to be this high!!)

I guess it's inevitable I'll get pre-e again... I just pray I can stave it off until much later, at least 34 weeks if humanly possible. I think I can handle a newborn and a one-year-old, but a one-year-old and a preemie with a months-long NICU stay... *shudder* that absolutely freaking terrifies me.

Back to a positive note, here was little baby today (he or she looked MUCH cuter in person)!

Yay for good U/S. Boo for High blood pressure. Did you doctor talk about possible bp meds? How about modified bed rest? I know that helped me. Do you have a blood pressure machine at home? IF not I suggest picking one up at Target/Walmart. That was my life save through out my pregnancy with C. Good luck and definitely keep us posted on your progress.
