bald spot!

So, DD's bald spot is getting worse and worse but shes becoming more 'mobile' and sleeps on her side sometimes! We just noticed it a few weeks ago, and I feel like I am being a ngelectful mom causing this bald spot! I do as much as I can to keep her off her back.. tummy time, time in the saucer, bumbo seat, and napping on me. But with a combo of STTN, her swing and car seat, she's got a bald spot. I think it's more noticable because she's got a good amount of hair. When does this bald spot grow in and go away?

Re: bald spot!

  • Are you sure this is from her being on her back?  LO has a ridiculous amount of hair (seriously, it's like 4 inches long) and she's got some balding spots on the top/front of her head.

  • Don't worry almost all babies get them. Then they tend to loose most their peach fuzz before their real hair grows in. Not saying they go bald bald just it thins way out.

Please don't feel this way!  Babies get bald spots.  It will grow.  It sounds like your doing all kinds of wonderful things...and it's not a health or safety issue.  There is so much to worry about being a parent, don't let this be one!

  • DD has a pretty bad bald spot too... And it's really noticeable because she has a ton of hair and it's black.  I try to do the combover to cover it, haha.  I wouldn't worry... Prett sure most babies get a bald spot at some point.

  • Don't worry at all. DD has one on the back of her head and on the front right side of her head where she nuzzles into my chin and rubs her head. Baby hair is so thin and soft it's easy for them to rub it off when they move around. Once they get their "real hair" grown in it stops falling out so easily. The daughter of a friend of ours has a mohawk since she's so mobile and rubs her head on everything but of course she can't rub the top of her head lol!

  • My little girl looks like a little old man with pattern baldness. Add that to her gummy grin and you've got adorable!
