One of my best friends is 7.5 months pregnant... she has 3 other kids as well. She and her husband have been told to move because they have a dog. She doesn't want to give her dog up, sorta speak. However, the places they have been finding won't allow them to bring the dog. If you had to decide between keeping your dog or having a roof over your head, what would you do?

Personally, I know how hard it is to have to give up the family dog, it sucks... but I knew I wanted a roof over my head at my Dad and stepmom's, so I let her go to a new family.

  • Yeah, it's really a choice of having a roof over her kids' heads or having a roof over her dog's head. I agree, it sucks big time, but being the adult means making hard choices like this. She could look into local rescue organizations. I'm sure when she explains her situation, they would be glad to help.

  • I truly can't imagine giving up my dogs. I am also fortunate enough that I have several families members all around, I would be in with them until I found a dog friendly place!

  • This happened to my family at one point.... we actually had rescued the dog and found out he was a very rare pure bred worth a good chunk of money to the right person. So when we put the ad out to find him a new family, we had lots of people trying to take the dog so they could sell it. It was really hard, and of course happened to be around Christmas time, but we ended up finding a family with a farm. (that didn't just want to sell him) It was really hard on us but it had to be done and honestly, I think he was probably much happier at that farm then if we had him in the townhouse we moved to anyways.
  • She doesn't have anyone that the dog can stay with till they get a dog friendly place. I've suggested she try putting an ad out to where she and her kids can still see the dog, but she wasn't wanting that. I will suggest finding a recuse place for the dog....

She could try putting up a flyer at petsmart or petco, they usually have a place for those when people need to give up a pet. And I would give up the pet if it were me. And I love my dog.

  • I seriously hope she starts thinking clearly before her fourth LO arrives...
