just for fun: what songs do you sing to your little one?

I'm curious what special songs you all are singing to your babies. My two older kids always sing "Hush Little Baby" to Emery when they are holding him and they have made up their own little version of the song b/c they couldn't remember the real version. It's so sweet!

I've been singing "I Love You, A Bushel and a Peck" to him lately. He loves it. And with all my kids I sing "Jesus Loves Me".

With Joaquin, our song was "A Fox went out One Winters Night" and with Avalin our song was "You are my Sunshine." I still call her sunshine.

Your songs are so sweet, I'm almost embarrassed to share mine...but for some reason I have that stupid "Call me Maybe" stuck in my head all day, so I sing it to him but change it to "Call Me Gabe-y" (DS is Gabriel)..,it annoy's DH to no end, lol!

You Are My Sunshine, for whatever reason while I was in the hospital I was singing Silent night... (stupid pills). and Solasolu from Susical The Musical, a play I was the lead in a few years ago.

I sing a lot of nursery rhymes. Oranges and Lemons, the Nut Tree Song, I Saw a Ship a Sailing, Sing a Song of Sixpence to name a few. I also sing this folk song about a little fish. I'm a preschool teacher so I've got million of them. I also sing some of our circle time songs because I was singing them when he was in my belly.

We sing non stop in our house. With DS I always sang 'Go to sleep little baby' and 'Down to the river to pray' I loved both songs from Oh Brother Where art Thou. I love to sing them to Olivia now. She is not as responsive to singing as DS was but I am sure in time she will. I also sing 'You are my sunshine' to both of them. DS loves to sing now and likes to sing to his sister.

Every night, we sing three songs with DD and DS1 as they get into bed. Our prayer song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Jesus Loves Me.

With DS2, I've woken up to DH singing made-up songs in the middle of the night while trying to rock him back to sleep. Melts my heart every. single. time.

DD's song that we sing together is the "princess song" (aka "Love Story" by Taylor Swift - yes it gets annoying, but I really LOVE hearing DD sing all the words!)

DS1's song that we sing together is the "happy song" (aka "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz - yes it's THE most adorable thing ever to hear a 20 month old sing this song!)

There were made up sits my dad sang to me when I was little. I didn't realize they were made up until I was an adult.

We've sung You are My Sunshine to DS1 since he was a newborn every night before bed. It's so cute that he hums along now. Also, bonus, he's totally become conditioned to the fact that that song = time to sleep. We've had a few times on long car trips when he needed to take a nap, but couldn't quite get to sleep; we'd sing a few verses and he'd be out like a light.

And all of the other lullaby songs.. but I find that I'm blanking on a lot of the words to kiddie songs that I used to know.. I need to brush up on my singing skills!
