Baby welcoming ceremony (non-religious) officiants in Philly/Bucks Co?

We were looking into having a Baby Blessing/Baby Welcoming Ceremony for our daughter next month.  My husband and I are non-denominational, and more spiritual than religious.  However, his family is Catholic, and would be very upset if we didn't do something- even if it's not an actual Christening, they just want some type of ceremony.  Looking for something along those lines-  to appease my husband's Catholic family, but stay consistent w/ what we believe, which is really just to welcome our daughter to the world, without religious reference.  We live in Richboro, Bucks County, PA, and were wondering if anyone could recommend an  officiant that might service this area- I haven't had a lot of luck so far finding one in the area. Or, any advice on how to find one, as I seem to be missing something.  I'd also love to hear about similar ceremonies that anyone has had, as I could really use some ideas on what to incorporate into the ceremony.  Thank you!!!!

  • The only advice I can offer is to look into Celtic Naming Ceremonies.  Usually those are done at baby's first birthday, but it sounds like that's kind of what you're looking for, just doing it a bit early :)  You might be able to find some sort of officiant and some ideas that way.  Good luck!

  • It's funny you should say that, b/c we are actually planning on doing this on her first birthday!  We waited so long, we decided to combine the 2 occasions, while we have everyone together.  Thanks, will definitely look into it.

We used them for our wedding (Baptist me > Catholic him), and have great things to say. It was extremely personalized, and really "us". So many people raved about them!  I would be using them for a similar dedication/blessing type event, but we've become close friends with a low-key minister who will do something custom for us.

     Good luck!
