I followed a link in another post and was stunned at the price - $6.25? I thought Thirsties were cheap at $17 each. So I read more of their site, and was surprised at the errors. Some of their pages are rather poorly written.
Is it because the owners of the company have English as a second language? Is the company legit? I understand the diapers are made in China, which could account for the price.
Anyway, I'm not very experienced with the different brands, so would love to hear your thoughts. At such a cheap price I'm tempted to order some just to try them, but must admit the low cost has me suspicious for some reason.
Re: Kawaii Diapers - good? bad?
I, like you, was pretty suspicious when I saw that the name of the site "luv your baby" and the brand name don't match, the low price, etc - knowing that there are plenty of counterfeit products out there, I was a little nervous, but Kawaii gets generally great reviews on here and after ordering this huge package (https://www.theluvyourbaby.com/sale-21-luxury-snazzy-minky-os/), I can tell you that 1) the company is legit 2) the prices and quality are amazing and 3) I love these diapers. They are so easy to use, they are uber cute, and they're relatively easy to clean.
The website has detailed instructions on how to elogate the life of your diapers and I follow pretty much all of the instructions and I wash with Bum Genius detergent only, so hopefully this stash will last us for a couple more kids as well!
Also, Kawaii is managed from Canada, so when I emailed customer service inquiring about the delivery date (note that they take 2 weeks to arrive), they promptly replied. With 21 diapers, I feel like I have plenty and could even sell a few off, but if I ever need more, I'll head back to Kawaii.
So I seriously could be buying diapers for $6?!
Good grief - I just paid way more than that for used diapers!
I know, kinda wish this was more well known because I definitely would have started earlier if I had known how affordable it was! Baby Bargains made it sound like CDing would set me back $1K!!
I love our kawaii diapers. I've often thought that if I had to redo our stash on a budget it would be mostly kawaiis.
I've never bought from their website but if it makes you feel more comfortable you can find them from a different retailer. (although your selection might be limited)
I know Mom's Milk Boutique carries a few and I've had great experiences with them.
Do you like the minky? I was thinking of ordering this package. I was afraid minky would be extra bulky, or the texture would be hard to put clothes over
This is why I practically started my CD research before I even got pregnant. I knew there were WAY too many choices out there for me to decide on right away, lol
Get snaps or Square tab aplix. The rounded aplix is crap in my opinion. The wash tab is some strange fabric that the aplix doesn't stick to so you end up with diaper chains. I use them equally to my BG 4.0 and have had no issues with them. They are a bit wider in the croch, however, I find that useful for extra stuffing, because my daughter is a heavy wetter.
Also, I recommend you buy the Heavy Duty or Overnight diapers vs the regular ones. They seem to be a bit sturdier in the TPU if that makes any sense.
The minky is really soft & I like it a lot. But the diapers are bulky. I don't know if non-minky would be less bulky but we had to go up a size in onesies to get them to fit over these compared to disposables. We've also tried prefolds with covers and I think those were just as bulky, if that gives you any reference.
We got the microfiber inserts and double stuff for nighttime - that ends up being really bulky but just 1 insert is plenty for us during the day time!
Just one more plug - we had originally sent some prefolds with covers as a CD trail with our DCP and she thought it was pretty difficult to use, but when we sent these Kawaii pockets, DCP said those were much more manageable for her.
I really don't need more diapers (just bought a ton used, waiting for them to arrive) but thought I might get the overnight ones just to try a couple of them. I've just started using cloth overnight and have had success, so I'm excited to keep doing it.
The wash tabs do wear out really fast. I just fasten them inside out and have no diaper chains.
I like the square tabs and the good night heavy wetters. I have an old style (square tab aplix) that we've used for over a year. I had to replace a few of the hook-side aplix, but overall they've aged well. The loop-aplix is way better quality than bumgenius - no "fuzzing".
