3 day potty training moms...

I'm planning to give this a go this weekend since it's a 3 day weekend. I'm wondering if I should take Friday off and stay home with her for 4 days instead of just 3? Daycare is totally on board whenever we are I'm just anxious about her not being 100% trained and peeing at other peoples houses. KWIM? Not sure if an extra day at home will help or not.

Thoughts?

Also, should I download Lora Jensens e-book? Or any other recs?

Re: 3 day potty training moms...

  • If you're able to take Friday off, I'd do it. I ended up taking a few hours on day 4 off just to make sure I'd feel comfortable leaving my daughter at daycare. She just didn't seem to really get it until the middle of day 3, so I wanted to make sure she was doing okay on day 4. I did download Lora Jensen's e-book, and I'm glad I did. If you have an account, she answers questions on a daily basis, and she helped with some problems we were having. Good luck!

  • I would. I took off Friday because I had to be at work on Monday for a meeting. Monday at daycare went very badly so I took Tuesday off to work with her some more. She went back to school on Wednesday and did great. I would plan on taking off Monday, but you could also go in if you felt you didn't need to stay home.
  • Well I work from home so I guess if I needed to I could just keep her home on Tuesday (day 4) (I'll be off Monday for labor day) since hopefully day 4 shouldn't be as hard as day 1????

  • I would say Tuesday then so you have the option of sending her if it works in 3 days. The ebook is worth it imo. We just did the 3 day method this weekend and so far it's been a success. Yesterday was day 3 for us and she didn't have any accidents and none so far today, even when we went out for a little while. Good luck!

  • The 3 day method didn't work until day 5 for us.

Also, if you Google 3 Day Potty Training Method you can ready the PDF for free.

  • I would take the friday off if possible.  DS really 'got it' by the 4th day.  Our DC was really good when we brought him on day 5.  they brought him to the bathroom often, DS is shy and wouldn't really tell them when he had to go.  He's never had an accident at school.  I was also worried about him having accidents at other people's homes as well.  Just bring her to the bathroom often when your out and you should be ok.

  • I would do 4 days too if you can swing it.  We used Jensen's method and it worked wonderfully for us.  She even suggested the possibility of a 4th day if it doesn't click by the 3rd day.  Also, if your DC is on board with the PT-ing don't worry too much about accidents.  DD still had a few accidents here and there at preschool but it's NBD.  They're used to it.  Just send her to school with a ton of underwear and bottoms.

  • If you can take Friday off, I would. We needed a couple extra days with DS.

  • I would take the day off if at all possible. We used Lora Jensen's method.  For our DS it "clicked" for pee on day 5 and took 3 weeks for poop.  Now he is doing great, and all in all he has been successful, but it was very stressful when the program didn't work within 3 days or 4 days, so I would not expect her to be fully trained in the 3 days although she might be.  Best of luck!

  • It took about 6-7 days for our DD at 30 months. DH and I declared days 1 & 2 the worst days of our parenting lives. lol.  It was hard work and really stressful. By day 2.5, DD had the pee thing down, but pooping was and still can be an issue.  With our next daughter, we're hoping to try the method when she is closer to that magical 22 month window Lora talks about in the book.
