We have our house on the market, but for purposes of my sanity we are going to go ahead and give our room to baby for a nursery and move our room into an open area on the 2nd floor of the house. we hope to be out of the house soon, but preparing for the long haul.
we don't plan to much alter our room for baby. it's green with blue and green curtains. My issue is this: over the fireplace I have a copy of Fragonards The Swing. It is huge. I don't really want to move it for a short time period, so I'd either leave it or put it in storage and try to find something else to hang there.
would you judge me for seeing this in a baby's room? If you don't know the thematic undertones of the work, then I would think you wouldn't. But if you were familiar you'd be like "Dude! that's all about sex and stuff!"
Re: A very strange question about nursery decor
AR needs to get laid. She's extra cranky today.
OP, I think the painting is beautiful and there is no need to move it. It isn't as if baby is going to grow up a perv b/c of it or anything.
I wouldn't think twice about that in the baby's room, especially since the room will be used short-term. However, I wouldn't think about moving furniture around quite yet. You're only 24 weeks and I think seeing master bedroom furniture in an open area instead of a private room would be very weird for a showing. I would wait until the last minute and if the house hasn't sold then move stuff around as needed.
My mom's friend's house went on the market in May and she closed this past Friday. And in our town many houses are just sitting, so she clearly had things priced right and had what the buyers were looking for. You never know if it'll sell very quickly.
I agree with this, my parents house sold in 37 hours. I'd give it a few weeks before you start moving things around.
it's been on the market for a year next week. it's a historic home in a historic neighborhood, a very specific property. a few of the lookers so far have said they'd like to make the area we are targeting a bedroom, so it makes some sense. we'll go off market in November-I don't want to mess with it for a few months at that point-so we may very well wait until then, but being as DH is going to be out of the country for an unspecified amount of time probably starting next month, we are doing all we can to cover our bases. Thanks for your input.
