Extreme pain

in my groin area.  I feel as if I have been split in half.  I have noticed when I walk I have a popping in my right hip that I can hear and feel.  That I can tolerate but the constant pain in my groin area is driving me nuts. It is really hard to walk and I am noticing that when I do I look like I am trying to hold a roll of paper towels between my legs.  Does anybody else have this?  If so, what do you do for it?  I am taking tylenol but that is like drinking water. :(

Re: Extreme pain

  • Eeeek, that sounds awful.  I am not experiencing anything like this.  Maybe give your care provider a call just to be sure all is well.

  • YES!! im in the same boat! I have had this pain for about a month now. i ask my care giver at my last appointment and she told me that i should try a support belt like a belly belt. i went out and bought one and i wear it to work all day long and it seems to help. There are times when i cant even walk because it hurts so bad! Ive also read up on something called Symphisis (sp?) pubic disfuntion. Sounds like what were experiencing and its basically the hormone that relaxes the the bones and muscles during pregnancy that it basically starts spreading the pubic bone sooner to get ready for birth.

I hope some of this helps out!

Where did you get your belly belt?  I'm a plus size momma so I didn't know if my size had anything to do with this pain or not.  I didn't have anything like this when I was pregnant with my son.  It feels like I'm being broke in half. I don't know how I'm going to get through the next 3 months.  I'm assuming it gets worse the further along you get.

  • Same pain here. I got a maternity belt for support and it seems to be helping.

  • I have SPD and have had it in my previous pregnancies. If that's what you are experiencing you'll notice that the most painful things may be going up stairs, turning over in bed, and getting in and out of your car. The only "cure" for Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction is giving birth but until then you can continue the Tylenol, ask your OB for a PT referral, wear a maternity SI belt (can be found on amazon), alternate heat and cold over the painful area, and get some rest. I hope that helps. I know how painful it is, hang in there!

This is it exactly.  Although the most painful is when getting out of the bed in the morning and standing after sitting for long periods.  I have a desk job so I sit 90% of my day.  It hurts to even walk to the bathroom and I feel like a big baby.  I just don't feel like doing anything.  I want to enjoy this pregnancy because I know it will be my last.

Thank you so much for the tips.  I really appreciate all of you!!
