I go to leave my house to find that some inconsiderate jerk decided it was ok to block my driveway. I am now trapped in the house when I really wanted to go out with DS looking at nursery furniture. (I'm trying to get him excited lol.)
I called the police as he has been here over an hour already, but I hope he moves his car before the police arrive. ALl they will do is ticket his car anyway, and I will still be stuck here waiting for him to move.
Ugh.
Re: NBR: Idiot is blocking my driveway.
yup.
Im in NYC, where they are currently ticket happy, so this should be a no-brainer for the cop who gets here!
But yes, it is illegal to block ANY driveway... even if it is your own! And because I am pregnant and have DS with me 99% of the time, I park in my driveway (not that I should have to justify that to anyone anyway. It is MY driveway!!!)

We had a guy park in our driveway once. I was on Mat. Leave and I randomly looked out the window and there was a van in our laneway. At the time, we leaved 2 doors down from my parents and accross the street from an apt. building. So I called my dad first and thought, maybe he had people over and he told his friends they could use our laneway to park (since we didn't have parking on our street)...Nope.
So I assumed it was an A**hole who was visiting someone at the building. I called By-Law, there were there with-in 20 min. The guy was writing up the ticket, when a guy runs out of the building asking what we were doing, the cop explained to the gy that he can't just park his car in people's laneways, gave the guy a ticket and had his car towed right in front of him.
I had just started my Mat. Leave, so I have a feeling this guy had parked in our laneway before, we just never realized, cause we were at work.
People are seriously so weird. I would not only feel so awkward, but also really creepy if I were knowingly parking in someone else's driveway.
You are a billion times nicer than me bc I wldve called the tow truck as soon as I saw the car in my driveway. I dont play that and they should know better than parking in a driveway ESPECIALLY if they parked for an hour - how inconsiderate is that???
When I call the police I would be sure to state 50x that I am pregnant and needed to go to an appointment and that jerk is inconveniencing me. And dont call 311 either - I would call my precinct directly. I live in NYC also and have absolutely no qualms abt calling my precinct when my neighbors annoy me lol!
If you need me to do it lmk... Im feeling punchy today ;-)

Next time you see his car, regardless of where it's parked, put a note saying that if he blocks your driveway again, his car will definintely suffer.
I would call a tow truck, no joke. He won't do that again!

I can't imagine they leave you without transportation. Suppose there was a medical issue and you could not leave to go to the hospital.
Something memorable would be to place an Industrial strength sticker on his windshield (right in the middle) where you can write "please stop blocking my driveway" ... Someone did that to me once and it left quite the impression on me. It was impossible to remove, but the people who stuck it on my car removed it when I politely l asked them to while explaining my sob story for parking there.... But I also never did it again! They needed a special solution to remove it. It is a bit extreme, but it would be worth watching their frustration over it. A bit of an eye for an eye.
Ditto!
In NYC, only the police can have a car towed. No tow company will tow a vehicle w/o the owner, other than for the police.
I did leave a note on his car saying "Please be considerate when parking your car and DON'T BLOCK PEOPLE'S DRIVEWAYS! You wouldn't want it done to you!" Jackass drove away with the neon yellow post it stuck to his window!! I doubt he will even read it. But we will look out for this car.
No way to drive over the grass?
I went off on some people on this Christmas tour last year and they weren't even blocking my driveway. I don't know why people think that is perfectly ok???
I should ready further down. I guess you wouldn't have much of a yard to drive past his car.
I.freaking.hate.that!!
My next door neighbors' kids have people all the time so it happens on a fairly regular basis. One time I went over at 7:30 AM when I was getting ready to leave for work and banged on their door until they opened up and rather impolitely told them to get their car out of my way, or I was going to move it myself with my husband's H2.
If you have an HOA call them, and have them get the car towed.
(I will say though, that last time this happened to me, I assumed my neighbors' kids were having a party as there were about 8 cars lined up on the curb (completely blocking my driveway) and it turned out they were actually undercover DEA and FBI agents on a sting because my neighbor two houses down were being staked out for running a massive pill operation between NJ and Myrtle Beach. When I got home from work their front door had been busted down and they were all hauled to jail-- so glad I didn't key those cars like I was SO tempted to do, lol!!)
