Where do you pump?

I know a lot of us are returning to work and pumping in weird locations, so I was wondering where you pump.  Or if you're a SAHM do you have a special pumping area set up? Extra points if you have a picture!

I pump in a supply closet that is located next to my cubicle.  Only my supervisor and I have a key so I haven't had any issues with intruders.  I like that it is convenient and I can leave my pump there during the day.  My job actually put in two pumping stations in the building right before I went on ML; but I prefer my supply closet because I'm the only one using it and the pumping stations are located on the 2nd and 8th floors and I work on the 9th floor.

The closet is so narrow I can't fit a chair in there so I sit on a step stool.  Here's a pic:

Re: Where do you pump?

  • We have a mother's room at work (I'm in there now). It's a converted handicapped bathroom. They removed the toilet, and added a chest of drawers, a recliner and an end table. The decorations are a little funny though:

  • I work in a spa so I pump in the treatment rooms when one is available. Other times I pump in the office behind a curtain. Everyone know what I'm doing when they come in the office and I'm in there. Good thing I work around a bunch of women who share everything anyway so its just so nonchalant when someone walks in and I'm behind the curtain.

  • I can't post a picture right now but I work in a medical practice so I pump in whatever exam room is empty that day. If all 7 rooms are in use on a busy day, I have to use the office of whatever doctor is not in that day! lol

Yes, those decorations are a little funny.  I would expect Sesame Street characters or something, but not Pac Man.

  • When I did pump I did so in the bathroom! The only other room with a door was a mechanical room, and it didn't lock. Plus i liked having access to a sink so i could wash the parts when i was done. I just brought in a chair from the break room, and it's still in there for another girl who now uses it.

  • I work in a hospital so we have a dedicated lactation room.  However, I'm lucky enough to also have my own office.  I just lock the door and post a sign that says "do not disturb."  I don't know what I would do if I didn't have my own office since the lactation room is clear across the hospital from where I work!

  • I pump in a small conference room in our school - am there now actually! The room is great for quiet time and computer time now that we have wireless throughout the school.  However, only one door locks and after one suprise visit from a co-worker I have to be careful about making sure no one enters!

  • ssimon621 - My space is similar.  But it is large enough to have a chair in it, mini fridge, and a microwave.

  • I pump in the nurse's bathroom. It's pretty good sized, and they put an office type chair and a little table for those of us that pump. Not the most deluxe accommodations, but it works. And like someone else said, it's nice to have the sink to wash stuff.

  • I have my own office.  I just lock the doors and pull down the shades.  It is nice so I can do emails, notes, and listen to msgs while pumping.
