Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Is your LO laughing?

My girl is 4 months old and doesn't laugh at all.  Normally I would tell my self to not worry, all babies develop at their own pace.  However, my son NEVER laughed!  He didn't laugh until he was over a year.  I desperately want her to laugh!  I LOVE the sound of babies laughing.  I'm worried she is going to fallow in the same path :'(

Re: Is your LO laughing?

  • Mine giggled once almost two weeks ago and hasn't done it since!  I wasn't even being funny.  I was wiping his hands with a washcloth and he smiled so big and let out a giggle.  We've been making complete fools of ourselves trying to get him to do it again and...nothing.

  • Nope. No laughs here. Big grins and wiggles are about all we get out of her.

  • I do have a laugher. But my niece who is about 6 months is not. She smiles but no laughing.

  • L started laughing a couple weeks ago but we really have to work for it. She just doesn't laugh, we have to tickle and be really crazy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

  • She is laughing but only at things her brother does.  No laughs for me.

  • DD laughs all the time but DS very rarely laughed until he was close to a year. I think it has a lot to do with personality.

  • my DD would laugh softly in her sleep from the time she was a few days old. she finally began sort of chuckling when she was maybe a month old. she really laughed for the first time when she was about 3 months old. she doesn't do it very often, but it's becoming more common. mostly the grins and squeals!

  • DD has been giggling since she was 3 months old, smiling since 7 weeks.

ETA: That doesn't appear to be the norm though.

  • We have gotten a chuckle or two out of our babies but nothing really consistent. I also make an insane fool out of myself trying Tibet them to laugh but for now I settle for big smiles.

  • Yup. He's 5.5 months old. Sometimes, he is so giggly and will laugh at pretty much anything. I think he was around 3 months when he starting giggling and has been smiling since 6-7 weeks or so. It started out only getting a giggle out of him once in a blue moon. Now, he laughs everyday at some point.

  • One night a couple of weeks ago we put our LO in front of the mirror and out of nowhere she laughed.  Hard.  It was unexpected and the cutest thing ever!  AND I got it all on video!
She'll laugh out loud every now and then.  Mostly with her dad or some other boys in the family.

  • My boy will give us the occasional chuckle but he's not a big laugher. Just yesterday we got a little bit of a bigger laugh and oh, is it just the sweetest sound! I wish he would laugh more, but like PPs said we really have to work for it.
  • Just started at 5 months old. Although I still have yet to get it on video.
