Anyone started thinking about Christmas yet?

I'm actually behind this year, the past couple of years I already had half of my shopping done by now, but this time around I haven't even started!  If you've started shopping, or just started thinking of ideas, what do you plan to get your preschooler?

Re: Anyone started thinking about Christmas yet?

  • Woohoo!  Yes, I just booked a photoshoot for our Christmas cards.  I do photo calendars for family and I've just started organizing and choosing pics for that.  They get Christmas jammies Thanksgiving night and I'm starting to scope those out online.

The kids each get $100 to donate to the cause of their choice.  Then one of them is super girly and LOVES clothes so she'll get a couple outfits.  I usually get one winter and a few spring for her.  DS will likely get the latest and greatest monster truck.  DD#1 will get a membership to an online website she's been bugging for.  I usually get them one big thing to use together but haven't decided if I will this year or throw in more little stuff!  I might get them beach towels because they need them- I was embarassed at all the pool parties and trips that I just had them use bath towels... so that should do it!!

  • Yes! I am an early Christmas planner. DS is obsessed with pretend camping in the house, so I am going to get him a play set and tent. I've started compiling a list of books to buy him. He also saw an awesome Imaginext castle set that he wants to put on his list for Santa. I plan to suggest that the ILs buy him a dinosaur set, and that my sister buy him some kid music CDs. I still have to come up with an idea for my mom.

I'm sort of stuck when it comes to my DD since we have so much stuff left from DS. I am thinking of a doll stroller and maybe a play vanity. I need to come up with ideas for the rest of the family.

  • Bunch of trucks, Lego's, bed tent, more "What's in the Bible" DVD's (we have vol. 1-6 to give to DS1 for his b-day).  I want to get DS1 Boggle Jr.

  • I have not although I usually do especially with my kids having a December 12 birthday.  I have found in the past that I buy all types of stuff on sale but by the time Christmas comes either me or the kids no longer what the stuff and my good deal is now a waste of money that cannot be returned.

  • I'm looking for ideas, too.  I've been thinking about it so much and I am clueless.  We have so much stuff already and money is tight so I really want to think it out.  So far I picked up a tee ball set and soccer ball.  DD is really into princesses, but I think my mom and inlaws are all over that scene.
Anyone with an older boy have ideas for a 1 year old?  I totally recommend a decent stroller for your DD, PP.  That is one toy that has never been put away.  DS even likes it now.

They are not cheap but these are awesome, the tie-dye ones have three patterns so they can each have their own...and personalized.  So worth it, I love ours.

Cozy Coupe (even if DD has one), Little Tikes shopping cart, a nice chair like an Anywhere Chair

  • Funny you posted this b/c I am x-mas shopping after work at TRU.  There is a BOGO free sale on several toys my DD's would love.

  • Nope - Hanukkah is in December and I refuse to push the season too fast.  We don't go overboard with gifts (we set a $ limit of around $100 max for each child so that could be 1 or 2 nice gifts or a bunch of small things).  It never takes me long to shop and last year, DH chose to go out with one of our nephews and hit up the Black Friday sales and pretty much finished our shopping.  We do take each of the girls shopping to buy her sister a small gift in late Nov or early Dec depending on when Hanukkah starts really determines if I shop before Thanksgiving or not.  Regardless I don't shop until after Halloween unless I see an amazing sale on a must have gift but that is very rare.
