Oh I have miss this place!

Hello August moms, I don't think I have posted here since mid-July! We moved into our new house the week after I was taken off of bed rest, around July 20th.. Then, I had Carson at 39 weeks on the dot(which is the longest I have ever been pregnant!) I was not miserable or uncomfortable at all and actually I couldn't believe the pregnancy was already over! Carson was 7 lbs 8oz and born at 3 in the afternoon on August 9th after 5.5 hours of labor and 3 pushes. Unfortunately, after about 4 hours he was breathing very quickly and the nurse hooked him up to the monitors and his 02 sats were in the seventies. They put him on a cannula and kept him in the nursery  overnight. The next morning after the follow up chest X-ray they discovered he had a pneumo thorax. After they needled him to drain the air they transferred him to a different hospital and discharged me so I could go with him. Carson has been in a level 3 comprehensive NICU since then. He was needled 3 more times for the pneumo,  then a chest tube was put in to help, when that one topped working they put in a larger tube. He had pulmonary hypertension and spent nine days on a ventilator, then a couple more with CPAP and nitric. He had a blood transfusion and was on dopamine and hydrocortisone. He was also on morphine and a long list of other pain relievers and sedatives. He was finally taken off of oxygen today though and is doing wonderfully! Carson is breastfeeding now on demand, and it looks like we may finally get to go home Tuesday!  I just wanted to do an update and re-intro since I have been away for so long, and once we are home I will probably be around again! Sorry for the loooong paragraph, I am bumping from the iPad! Alsogood luck to those still waiting for their August babies!

    It's so wonderful to hear from you! I can't believe you made it to 39 weeks! I am so sorry with all you have been through with your son, I can't imagine. I am so happy to hear he is improving and you guys should be heading home soon - I will keep him and you in my thoughts!
